  • Publication number: 20080098848
Abstract: A control device for bicycles has a main body for attachment to a bicycle handlebar and at least one actuation arm for controlling a brake and/or a derailleur of the bicycle. The at least one actuation arm has a first portion having a finger actuation area and a second portion for controlling the brake and/or the derailleur, said first portion and said second portion being distinct bodies fixable to each other. The first portion can therefore be replaced without disassembling the control device, with an identical one when it breaks, wears down or is damaged, or else with a different one in terms of the constituent material, color or similar, to satisfy the different preferences of the cyclist, or even different in shape and/or size, in particular in curvature and/or length, so that the control device is adaptable to cyclists with hands that depart from average size. To this purpose, a same first portion can also be fixable in at least two different positions with respect to the second portion.

  • Publication number: 20080054711
Abstract: A rim for a spoked bicycle wheel is disclosed that has a change of radial section of the side walls. Through changes of symmetry/asymmetry with respect to a middle plane and/or changes of radial extent, it is possible to improve the performance of the rim in terms of balance, camber angles and/or strength. Preferably, the radial section is variable, still of constant area along the circumference, apart from apertures for the attachment of spokes and possible openings for the passage of nipples. A process for manufacturing a rim for a bicycle wheel is also described, comprising hydroforming a tubular extruded piece to locally change the section of the side walls.

  • Publication number: 20070204716
Abstract: The invention relates to a bicycle brake control device, comprising a support body to be fixed to a handle bar and suitable to receive an end length of a traction cable according to a line, and a brake lever pivoted on the support body for actuating the brake through the traction cable when it is pulled towards the handle bar, the brake lever having a first actuation area at one end, wherein the pivot of the brake lever is arranged at a position which is not intermediate between the intersection of the line with the brake lever, and the first actuation area of the brake lever. Through such a configuration, the length of the brake lever on the side of the first actuation area, i.e. on the useful side of the brake lever, increases.

  • Publication number: 20070204721
Abstract: A bottom bracket assembly of a bicycle comprises two cranks, an axle integral in rotation with the cranks, and two bearings for the rotatable support of the assembly with respect to a box of the frame of the bicycle; each of the bearings is arranged inside the thickness of one of the respective cranks. In this way, the weight of the cyclist acting on a crank transfers directly onto the corresponding bearing, without any bending stress being generated on the axle of the bottom bracket.

  • Publication number: 20070187866
Abstract: A process for the production of a crank lever for a bicycle is provided. The process includes providing moulding equipment including two mobile half-moulds which move between an open position and a closed position. The moulding equipment when in the closed position defines a moulding cavity having a shape corresponding to that of the crank lever to be produced. The process further includes providing, inside said moulding cavity, at least one insert and introducing into the moulding equipment, when in the open position, a pre-set quantity of fibre-reinforced mouldable thermosetting material in a plastic state. The process also includes closing the moulding equipment and applying to the thermosetting material a pressure via the surfaces of said moulding cavity so as to cause the material in the plastic state to flow into the moulding cavity around, and at least partially covering the at least one insert, filling the moulding cavity and heating the thermosetting material up to a thermosetting temperature.

  • Publication number: 20070145794
Abstract: A seat post for a bicycle includes a tubular element that supports a seat of a bicycle and grasping element of a portion of a frame of the seat. The grasping elements are adapted to be coupled to the tubular element and to be selectively activated/deactivated to prevent/allow a translation movement of the seat with respect to the tubular element along a predetermined direction. The grasping elements include abutment elements and can be coupled with the tubular element in operative coupling configurations in which the abutment elements define translation limit positions of the seat with respect to the tubular element in predetermined directions. Abutment elements may be defined on a jaw in asymmetric positions with respect to each other.
