Abstract: A method for carrying out searches in a database by means of a data processing system is provided. The database includes a first plurality of first data items and a second plurality of second data items, a generic first data item being in relationship with one or more second data items and vice versa. In an internal memory of the data processing system, at least one among a first and a second data table structure are generated, each one including: a first and a second data table, each comprising a plurality of elements, each one corresponding to a respective first, respectively second, data item and univocally identified by a respective first, respectively second, index. The first and second data tables include a third data table including a plurality of elements, each one in a univocal relationship with a respective element of the first and second data tables.

Abstract: A method and system of monitoring quality of service in a packet-based network includes a three-tier architecture, wherein one or more applications can request customized quality of service reports from a quality server. The customized reports may include, for example, a desired report format or trigger events indicating when the one or more applications should receive the report. The quality server prepares these reports based on quality of service messages received from user terminals and sends the reports in accordance with the request.

Abstract: A method and related system measure the round trip time in the communication of packets between ports of a packet switching communication network in which, among other packets, report packets, like RTCP packets of the SR type, are transmitted by transmitting ports to destination ports in response to previous packets received from said respective destination ports by the steps of (a) detecting at any point of the network, among the packet traffic flowing therethrough, a first report packet transmitted by a first port to a second port and a second report packet responsive to said first report packet; (b) computing the round trip time between the first and second ports as a function of the report packet transmission time and delay data reported in the second report packet and of the previous report transmission time and delay data reported in the first report packet.
