  • Patent number: 10266178
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine and a controller programmed to autostop and autostart the engine. The controller is further programmed to, in response to receiving signals indicative of a driver exiting the vehicle while the engine is auto stopped, autostart the engine, and after expiration of a predetermined duration, autostop the engine and inhibit vehicle propulsion until an ignition cycle is initiated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 13, 2016
Date of Patent: April 23, 2019
    Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC

  • Patent number: 8482140
Abstract: A starter control system is disclosed. In one example, the starter control system may be activated via predetermined control logic or via an operator action that is not subject to the predetermined control logic.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 28, 2011
Date of Patent: July 9, 2013
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Songping Yu, Giuseppe Domenico Suffredini, Robert Teran, Jr., Craig Cabadas, Kiana Danielle Whitehead
  • Publication number: 20110198863
Abstract: A starter control system is disclosed. In one example, the starter control system allows both automatic and manual control over an engine starting sequence. The starter control system can enhance starter control system flexibility.

  • Publication number: 20090096400
Abstract: A starter control system includes a power source, a starter motor, a starter relay, a control module, and an ignition switch. The starter motor is in operative communication with the power source. The starter relay is operatively interposed between the power source and the starter motor, and includes a high side node and a low side node. The starter relay is controllable to selectively enable power delivery from the power source to the starter motor responsive to activation of the high side node and the low side node. The control module includes a high side driver in operative communication with the high side node of the starter relay and a low side driver in operative communication with the low side node of the starter relay. The ignition switch is in operative communication with the high side node of the starter relay and in operative communication with the control module.

  • Patent number: 6766775
Abstract: A system and method for determining an estimation of actual cam phase angle of increased accuracy are based on an observed cam phase angle derived from a cam phase sensor and a predicted cam phase angle derived from a desired or commanded cam phase angle. The estimated cam phase angle is used in the electronic control unit in computing desired settings for engine variables which depend on cam phase angle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 1, 2001
Date of Patent: July 27, 2004
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
