  • Patent number: 7249590
Abstract: An injection control method for controlling a “common rail” fuel injection system in a diesel engine is described. The method includes the following steps: an initializing step for acquiring engine control parameters; and a main adjustment cycle for adjusting operational variables of the engine. The injection control method also includes an interrupting step for adjusting an injection procedure proper of the injection system by variation of all the characteristic parameters of the injection procedure. Also described is an injection control system for a diesel engine based on the above method.

  • Patent number: 6997164
Abstract: A Common Rail injection system of an endothermic engine, the injection system including at least one fuel pressure accumulating tank, of the rail type, having an input in fluid communication with a high-pressure pump and a plurality of outputs for feeding corresponding injectors by using pressure regulating means connected and depending on an electronic control unit. Advantageously a virtual pressure sensor includes a fluid-dynamic model of the accumulating tank suitable to estimate and to obtain fluid pressure values used by the electronic control unit for driving the injection means of the Common Rail injection system.

  • Patent number: 6925373
Abstract: The invention relates to a virtual sensor of exhaust emissions from a fuel-injection endothermic engine having a combustion chamber in each of its cylinders, a fuel injector serving each combustion chamber, and an electronic fuel-injection control unit. Advantageously, the virtual sensor includes an input interface receiving a signal from at least one pressure sensor for measuring the pressure inside at least one combustion chamber of the engine, a second input interface receiving signals from the electronic fuel-injection control unit, and a calculation block to provide estimates of the amounts of nitrogen compounds and particulates in the emissions based on the pressure and other relevant signals to the engine operation.

  • Patent number: 6853893
Abstract: An electronic torque control and distribution system is provided for a hybrid propulsion vehicle. The drive thrust of the hybrid propulsion vehicle is distributed between an electric engine and an internal combustion engine through a transmission system. The transmission system delivers the torque of both engines to the vehicle wheels. The electronic torque control and distribution system is slaved to a control unit, and includes a controller for incorporating a fuzzy logic processor to predict through soft computing techniques the torque contributions of the electric engine and of the internal combustion engine. A sensor estimates the vehicle polluting emissions. The controller and the sensor are both connected to the control unit.

  • Publication number: 20040134696
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes an internal combustion engine, an electrical motor, and a drive wheel associated with the electric motor. The drive wheel has a hub, and an axle extending into the hub. The hybrid vehicle also includes a rechargeable battery, and a power circuit for driving the electric motor by drawing power from the rechargeable battery. An electronic torque management unit controls the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. The electric motor is reversible and includes a ferromagnetic pack mounted on the axle for forming a stator within the hub of the drive wheel, and a rotor is mounted adjacent the stator within the hub of the drive wheel.
