  • Patent number: 6778461
Abstract: A random access memory (RAM) includes at least two memory banks. Each memory bank includes an array of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) cells, and self-refresh circuits for continuously submitting the DRAM cells to a refresh operation independent of the other memory banks. A first circuit selectively accesses one of the memory banks in response to an external access request. A second circuit suspends the refresh operation in the accessed memory bank while processing the external access request, and while the refresh operations in non-selected memory banks are not suspended.

  • Patent number: 6509710
Abstract: A Switched Reluctance Motor or SRM is controlled by detecting signals indicating the angular position of the rotor of the motor and energizing the motor depending on these signals. The periods of the abovementioned signals are discretized into a given number of time windows, defining a table with a plurality of positions each corresponding to one of said time windows. A respective power supply configuration of the motor is associated with each of said positions of the table. The positions in the table undergo cyclical scanning and the motor is energized with the power supply configuration associated with the position identified in each case during the scanning movement. The scanning movement is performed from a reference position identifying the energization advance of the motor and preferably determined using a logic of the fuzzy type based on the speed of rotation and the load of the said motor.

  • Patent number: 6255792
Abstract: An intelligent suction device, particularly for vacuum cleaners and the like, includes a fuzzy-logic controller for controlling the motor of a fan or turbine. The suction pressure is detected by at least one pressure sensor which feeds back its measurement, in a closed loop, to the controller.

  • Patent number: 4178355
Abstract: A method of preparing anhydrous dicalcium orthophosphate of predetermined and substantially uniform particle size for use in making fluorescent lamp phosphors. The method entails heating an acidified aqueous slurry of hydrated dicalcium orthophosphate in a reaction vessel and at the same time agitating the heated slurry. The heating and simultaneous agitation is continued until significant incipient formation of a gel-like material is manifested at the wall portions of the reaction vessel. At that point the application of heat to the slurry is discontinued. The agitation of the slurry within the vessel is continued until all the slurry is converted to meta-stable gel-like material. At that time the agitation is discontinued. The formed meta-stable gel-like material is then maintained in a quiescent state until it converts completely to crystals of dicalcium orthophosphate. The orthophosphate crystals are then permitted to settle to the bottom of the residual liquid in the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4100264
Abstract: A method of producing finely-divided phosphor grade calcium carbonate having a calcite crystalline structure and a very low sodium content. The calcium carbonate is produced from calcium chloride having a high sodium impurity content, such as calcium chloride which is a by-product of the Solvay process for producing soda ash.
