Abstract: A packaging machine may be provided for producing packages from a packaging material advanced along an advancing path. The packaging material may have a longitudinal edge arranged along the advancing path and a mark configured to provide an indication about the position of the packaging material. The packaging machine may include a forming unit configured to fold the packaging material into a tube having a longitudinal axis arranged along the advancing path, a first sensor configured to detect the position of the edge and generate a first control signal, a second sensor configured to read the mark and to generate a second signal, and a control device having an actuation device configured to move the packaging material in a direction arranged transversally with respect to the advancing path based on the first control signal and second signal. A method for producing packages from a packaging material may additionally be provided.
