  • Publication number: 20170131316
Abstract: A sampling system is provided. The sampling system includes a housing. Mounted to the housing is a Hall effect sensor. A probe configured to contact a sample is inserted into the housing. The probe includes an elongated portion and a restorative spring inserted onto the elongated portion of the probe. The restorative spring provides sufficient restorative force to return the probe to a relaxed position. The Hall effect sensor is configured to sense a field strength generated by the proximity of the restorative spring of the probe in the extended position.

  • Patent number: 9600679
Abstract: Techniques for resource operation based on usage, sharing, and recommendations with modular authentication are provided. A resource space is associated with a principal. The resource space comprises resources local to a device of the principal and remote from the device. The resources presented in a merged view within a local file system and operating system of the device. In an embodiment, the device negotiates authentication with an intermediary for access to a legacy service where authentication is performed by the intermediary on behalf of the device, and the intermediary establishes an authentication session between the principal and the legacy service.

  • Publication number: 20080033505
Abstract: A control system for controlled exercise controls a functional electrical stimulation (FES) system which applies electrical signals to muscle groups of a user such as a user having a disability; the user exercises on a motor driven exercise machine such that substantially isokinetic exercise during a movement is obtained as the user's body part moves with a motor driven displaceable element of the machine. This element provides resistance to applied displacement load from the user's stimulated muscles. A feedback control system receives signals indicative of the user's performance and a control arrangement controls electrical stimulation to the user's muscles to achieve a desired exercise regime.

  • Patent number: 6905430
Abstract: A water skipping article for use by a user in launching the article in a substantially horizontal trajectory and with a specified rotation spin. The article includes a three-dimensional body constructed of a biodegradable material and having a smooth and continuous exterior surface with a substantially circular and smooth edged outer perimeter. The body further includes a side profile defined by upper and lower elliptically extending faces and which converge into the smooth profile of the circular outer perimeter. A hollowed, substantially elliptical and interior cavity is defined in substantially centric and suspended fashion within the body. Upon launching of the water skipping article by the user, the configuration of the interior cavity causes centrifugal forces to be applied in a direction towards the solid outer perimeter of the article and to thereby increase individual incidences of the article contacting the water surface in a skipping fashion.

  • Patent number: 6763279
Abstract: A system and method for inscribing a bullion article, including a first processor having a display terminal and a mouse controller. A drawing program generates and displays a selected font illustration. The processor incorporates a program for rendering a single line art representation of the displayed font, typically through the use of the mouse to retrace a center line of the font. The manual redrawing is then saved as a file in a first format and converted to a second format for subsequent transmission and execution by a numerical controller. A milling tool is instructed by the controller to inscribe, to a selected depth, the surface of the bullion article in single pass fashion. A CNC Mill, sander, polish and polishing cloths, and sealant for treating and finishing the inscribed articles are provided, such articles typically including both minted and milled/inscribed faces.

  • Publication number: 20030069663
Abstract: Minted and custom milled or inscribed bullion commemoratives and a system and method for inscribing an object, such as the surface of a bullion article. A first processor in provided and includes a display terminal and mouse controller. A drawing program is incorporated into the hard drive of the processor and is capable of generating and displaying a selected font illustration. The processor incorporates a program for rendering a single line art representation of the displayed font, typically through the use of the mouse to retrace a center line of the font. The manual redrawing is then saved as a file in a first format and converted to a second format for subsequent transmission and execution by a numerical controller. A specially modified milling tool is instructed by the controller to inscribe, to a selected depth, the surface of the bullion article utilizing an efficient and time saving single pass technique.

  • Patent number: 6206772
Abstract: A hand tool for holding a spinning disc while the circumference of the disc is being ground is noteworthy for its ability to accommodate disks of various thicknesses. The disc is gripped between two resilient grippers that rotate with the disc. The grippers are mounted for rotation to the jaws of the tool. The jaws slide open and closed on two spaced parallel guide pins that are parallel to the axes of rotation of the grippers. This assures that as the jaws are opened or closed to accommodate discs of different thicknesses, the axes of the grippers remain colinear.
