Abstract: An adjusting mechanism (92) is provided between a valve spool (62) and a valve actuating lever (26) whereby with the lever (26) locked in a selected position, the mechanism (92) is manipulated to move an element (99) carried by the valve spool (62) into alignment with an indicator (110) that has been predetermined to be the selected setting of the valve. With the element (99) aligned with the indicator (110), the mechanism (92) is locked so that the valve spool (62) is in the selected setting when the lever (26) is in the selected position. A lock-down apparatus (70) is provided for use in locking the lever (26) in the selected position while the adjusting mechanism (92) is being manipulated.

Abstract: A seal assembly and a sheave block utilizing said assembly in which a housing (H) mounts a central shaft (12) on which a plurality of sheaves (40-43) are rotatably mounted. A free-floating spacer ring (60) is positioned on the central shaft between each of the sheaves and between a sheave and the housing and has a hard wearing smooth surface as provided by chrome-plating, and a pair of lip seals (62,63) of elastic material are positionable, one on each face of a sheave and an adjacent surface of the housing, with each having a part (64,65) thereof defining a hard wearing low friction bearing surface for sealing engagement with the surface of the spacer ring.

Abstract: A control linkage for a band-type brake having an actuating lever provided with a pair of anchor pins, a brake band adapted to be trained about a rotary element to be braked in either direction of its rotation, the band having one end connected to one of the anchor pins, an adjustment bracket connected to the other of the pins, and the other end of the band being connected to the adjustment bracket, and an anchor bracket having upwardly and downwardly opening slots loosely receiving the pins with the pin connected to the adjustment bracket being disposed in the downwardly open slot. A spring resiliently biases the pin in a downwardly open slot upwardly into engagement with the bottom of its associated slot to provide smooth braking action.
