  • Patent number: 8069021
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) facilitate a distributed simulation of an industrial control system. A model of the industrial control system is generated and computing resources are scheduled for simulating portions of a simulation according to the model. Computing resources are scheduled to mitigate computational bottlenecks in the simulation and synchronize portions of the simulation deployed in disparate computing resources. Sub-processes of a control process can be simulated in dedicated computing resources as a part of a distributed simulation of the control process. Execution time of one or more portions of a distributed simulation can be increased or slowed down to synchronize said portions.

  • Publication number: 20090089029
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to facilitate simulation(s) of components of an industrial control system. Simulation(s) execution time can be decreased by conducting the simulation in a parallel computing platform, and coupling the simulation with an optimization component that restructures the simulation code. Such automated reconfiguration removes inhibitors for parallelism, resulting in optimized code to execute the simulation, with the ensuing reduction in execution time. Execution time can also be reduced by applying an adaptive time step during state propagations that are part of the simulation.

  • Patent number: 4876857
Abstract: A shut off and pressure regulator valve (10) for use with a metering valve (12) in a fuel system for a turbine engine. A pressure responsive piston (70) freely moves in a sleeve (48) to initiate fluid communication between an inlet port (16) and an outlet port (24). In response to a predetermined pressure differential a seal (90) carried by the piston (70) engages a ramp (56) to prevent fluid communication through the operational clearance (x) between the piston (70) and sleeve (48) to prevent fluid communication of a control fuel from a control chamber (76) to the outlet port (24) connected to the turbine engine.

  • Patent number: 4837697
Abstract: A fuel management system (34) for a turbine engine (10) having a metering valve (50) controlled by the input of an electronic computer (36) to a resolver (48). A head sensor (64) responds to pressure differential across the metering valve (50), to control a bypass valve (80) which allows a portion of the fuel available from a supply conduit (58) to return to a reservoir (28). An overspeed governor (116) receives an input turbine (10) to position a cam (120) having four contours (154, 156, 158, and 160) thereon. The first contour (154) provides a feedback to balance the actual speed input. The second contour (156) controls the opening of a proportional valve (122) when the rotation of the turbine exceeds a preset value to allow an operational fluid pressure in the bypass valve (80) to be reduced and additional fuel to flow to the return conduit (95).
