  • Publication number: 20090319942
Abstract: The invention addresses the need to view an entire document element, such as a photograph, paragraph, etc. when paging. A window generated by an application such as a browser includes a succession of document elements. The window has an actual top and an actual bottom. The computer system selects a paging step size automatically, wherein the paging step size is selected from a group. The group includes a first step size that is of a size such that paging downward by the first step size from the current window position advances the window to a location placing the top of the at least one document element a predetermined distance below the top of the window.

  • Patent number: 6752850
Abstract: A liquid soil conditioning composition is disclosed. The composition is in the form of an aqueous dispersion of rock lime and sulfur where the atomic ratio of calcium to sulfur is in the range 0.9:1 to 1.3:1. The particle size of the rock lime and the sulfur is 5 &mgr;m average. The liquid compositions improve the agricultural productivity of clay soils.

  • Patent number: 5935246
Abstract: A copy protection mechanism for protecting software against copying, consists of a challenge mechanism embedded in each protected item of software. The challenge mechanism has no access to the customer's private keying material. In operation, the challenge mechanism sends a random challenge to the customer's signature server. The signature server signs the challenge, using the customer's private keying material and then returns the signed challenge to the challenge mechanism. The challenge mechanism then verifies the signed challenge, using the customer's public keying material, and prohibits the customer from using some or all of the protected item of software unless the verification is successful. The mechanism permits every customer to receive an identical copy of the copy protected program with the embedded challenge mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5779819
Abstract: The present invention relates to the production of a grain oriented electrical steel composition having a volume resistivity of at least 50 micro-ohm-cm. The melt composition of the steel consists essentially of, in weight %, about 0.08% max carbon, about 0.015 to about 0.05% aluminum, about 2.25 to 7% silicon, greater than about 0.5% manganese.sub.eq, about 0.001 to about 0.011% nitrogen, about 0.01% max sulfur, about 3% max chromium, about 1% max copper, about 2% max nickel and balance essentially iron. High levels of silicon are balanced with a manganese equivalent relationship which permits lower levels of carbon while still providing the desired levels of austenite during rolling and annealing. The processing also includes the addition of excess nitrogen to the steel prior to secondary grain growth which is subsequently removed during a purification treatment.

  • Patent number: 5706328
Abstract: A technique is provided for enabling remote testing of a telecommunications service provided by an international gateway switch (12). To accomplish such testing, a test facility (10) associated with the switch includes a DTMF interface (16) for automatically answering an inbound call and for verifying if the caller may access the service for testing purposes. The test facility also includes a signal converter (38) for translating DTMF signals entered during the inbound call to yield an activation sequence of signals for input to the international gateway switch to activate the service offered by the switch for testing purposes.

  • Patent number: 5655795
Abstract: An inlet duct and seal assembly is disclosed having, as its preferred application, the attachment of an intake air transfer duct to the throttle body of an internal combustion engine. The throttle body is provided with an inlet opening about which extends an annulus defining an outer annular wall. The inlet air duct has an opening which corresponds in diameter to that of the annular outer wall. A seal is disposed in the duct opening and includes an inwardly, radially directed wiper seal which is flexibly deformed between the annular wall and the duct opening when the duct opening is engaged over the throttle body inlet.

  • Patent number: 4685420
Abstract: This invention relates to an animal litter comprising a porous, inert solid substrate and a dry particulate polymer. When animal urine contacts the animal litter there are produced gelled agglomerates containing the animal urine, polymer and solid substrate. The gelled agglomerates have sufficient mechanical integrity to be conveyed as discrete entities thereby permitting animal urine to be physically removed from a litter box containing the animal litter of the present invention.
