  • Patent number: 7812720
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring one or more components of a wireless communication network. Preferably, an alarm system is linked to one or more components of a wireless communication network to determine whether the one or more components have been tampered with, removed or otherwise disabled. The monitored component can be a ground system in a cellular telephone network. The alarm system can include at least one conductive path linked to a ground bar of a ground system in a cellular telephone network such that if the ground bar is removed from the cellular telephone network the at least one conductive path is severed thereby generating an alarm signal. The alarm signal may take the form of an audible alarm (e.g., a horn), a visual alarm (e.g., flashing lights) and/or a signal transmitted to a monitoring station indicating that the ground bar has been removed and the equipment at the tower site is now vulnerable to lighting strikes.

  • Publication number: 20080209932
Abstract: A cooling device, which includes a cooling solution and an absorption means; such that the cooling solution includes one or more low boiling point alcohols, one or more cooling sensates and water; wherein the total concentration of low boiling point alcohols is between 5% and 25% of the cooling solution; the total concentration of cooling sensates is up to 20% of the cooling solution, and the concentration of any single cooling sensate is a maximum of 10% of the cooling solution; and the water concentration is at least 50% of the cooling solution, wherein at least part of the absorption means is configured to releasably absorb any cooling solution applied to it and, in use, allow contact between a user's skin and the cooling solution; and wherein said absorption means is a flexible garment configured to closely fit one or more body parts of the user.

  • Publication number: 20030114175
Abstract: A method of enhancing the functionality and usability of a computing device includes the step of defining a plurality of functional profiles, each functional profile having a layout appearance and one or more indicators associated with applications. The functional profiles are then stored, and one of the functional profiles is activated using a functional profile selector or triggered by external communications to a personal digital assistant, e.g. SMS. Thereafter, an application is activated by selecting one of the indicators from those displayed in the layout appearance for the activated functional profile.

  • Patent number: 6553361
Abstract: A ripple down rules knowledge based system for generating an output conclusion in response to an input case, the system including a database arranged to receive and store a plurality of conclusions and a plurality of rules, each new conclusion added to the database being associated with a previously stored conclusion as a refinement of the previously stored conclusion and each new conclusion added to the database being associated with a rule, input mechanism for facilitating input of a case, and output mechanism for outputting at least one previously stored conclusion in response to the input case, the system being arranged such that when multiple identical conclusions are returned by the system in response to an input case and a new conclusion associated with the input case is added as a refinement of the identical conclusions, a list of cornerstone conflict cases associated with all of the identical conclusions is generated, and the system being arranged to receive an input rule indicative of a difference b

  • Patent number: 6039604
Abstract: An electrical cable coupling assembly includes six equally angularly spaced axially extending tubular insulators which have a central internal annular ridge against which a thimble and a socket are collectively secured by the operation of a bolt. A phase barrier, which is a structural member, is engaged at opposed ends by respective plates. The plates are forced toward each other and into clamping engagement with insulators by the action of bolts which are threadedly engaged within complementary bores in the phase barrier.

  • Patent number: 4627957
Abstract: A tubular sheath for particulate nuclear fuel has microporous retaining elements formed by winding metal strip about a central pin and pushing the resulting spiral into the sheath ends. The metal strip has transverse grooves formed by a photo-etching process which form axial gas passages narrow enough to prevent passage of fuel particles. Suitable materials for the strip include molybdenum and tungsten. A stainless steel strip can be used if a molybdenum or tungsten disc is placed between it and the fuel.
