  • Patent number: 11944265
Abstract: An exemplary medical imaging system includes an imaging device that includes a visible light camera configured to obtain image data representative of a two-dimensional visible light image of a scene and a depth sensor separate from the visible light camera and configured to obtain depth data representative of a depth map of the scene. The medical imaging system further includes a image processing system communicatively coupled to the imaging device and configured to generate, based on the image data and the depth data, a right-side perspective image of the scene and a left-side perspective image of the scene that together form a stereoscopic image of the scene.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 14, 2020
Date of Patent: April 2, 2024
    Assignee: Intuitive Surgical Operations, Inc.
Inventors: Robert G. Stricko, III, Jacob L. Divone, Glenn C. Stante
  • Publication number: 20220287776
Abstract: An exemplary operation management system is configured to obtain external body wall data representative of a three-dimensional model of an external body wall of a patient, obtain internal depth data representative of a depth map for an internal space of the patient, and perform, based on the external body wall data and the internal depth data, an operation associated with a computer-assisted surgical system configured to perform a procedure with respect to the patient.

Inventors: Robert G. Stricko, III, Jacob L. Divone, Glenn C. Stante
  • Publication number: 20220265351
Abstract: An exemplary operation management system is configured to obtain, from a depth sensor included in an imaging device, depth data representative of a depth map for an internal space of a patient, obtain auxiliary sensor data from an auxiliary sensor not included in the imaging device, and perform, based on the depth data and the auxiliary sensor data, an operation associated with a computer-assisted surgical system configured to perform a procedure within the internal space of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20220183779
Abstract: A medical device includes a clevis, a first blade, a second blade, and a tension member. The first and second blades are rotatably coupled to the clevis. The first blade includes a first coupling portion. The tension member is coupled to the first blade and applies a torque to the first blade to rotate the first blade about the clevis between a first, second, and third orientation. The second blade includes a second coupling portion. The second coupling portion is coupled to the first coupling portion such that A) the second blade remains in a fixed position relative to the clevis when the first blade is between the first and second orientation, and B) rotation of the first retractor blade between the second and third orientation transfers at least a portion of the torque to the second retractor blade causing rotation of the second blade about the clevis.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 28, 2022
    Publication date: June 16, 2022
    Applicant: Intuitive Surgical Operations, Inc.
Inventors: Christina J. SHUH, Ralph WADENSWEILER, Kyle R. MILLER, Jeffrey A. SMITH, Glenn C. STANTE, Markus RHEINWALD, Hubert STEIN
