Patent number: 12203580Abstract: An elbow fitting for an excavating apparatus can include a curved cylindrical pipe that can include a first metal material. In an example, the fitting can be configured for coupling to a hose. The pipe can include an interior surface and an exterior surface. Optionally, a perimeter of the pipe does not exceed a diameter of a first end of the pipe. The fitting can include a cladding layer (e.g., a second metal material) that can be coupled to the first metal material within the interior surface of the pipe. The cladding layer can include an abrasion-resistant material. The cladding layer can be coupled to the pipe such as with a welding operation. The cladding layer can include one or more ridges. The cladding layer can corregate the interior surface of the fitting and exterior surfaces of the fitting which can come into contact with abrasive material.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2023Date of Patent: January 21, 2025Assignee: EMCO, INC.Inventor: Glenn Gevik

Publication number: 20070186798Abstract: A tamping blade for a railroad-tamping machine to tamp ballast on a railway line. The tamping blade includes a pad that attaches to a shank of a railroad-tamping machine and is made of hardened steel. A wear-resistant coating covers and protects the surfaces used to tamp the ballast. Wear-resistant inserts are fixed in a leading face of the pad to absorb a large portion of the impact and improve the efficiency of the tamping process. The wear-resistant inserts are positioned to reduce the formation of a wear pattern during use. The method allows for production of a hardened steel pad with a wear-resistant coating and wear-resistant inserts.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 15, 2006Publication date: August 16, 2007Inventor: Glenn Gevik
