  • Patent number: 4728474
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for making multi-turned plastic springs. At least 2 mold sections forming a central opening and a cavity with many turns are placed around a hollow sleeve having sufficient opening to flow molten plastic to individual turns. After the plastic solidifies the sleeve is moved with respect to the mold sections to shear a spring that has formed in the cavity from a plastic core in the sleeve. The mold sections are then opened and the spring is removed.

  • Patent number: 4347222
Abstract: Apparatus for generating anaerobic atmosphere is described wherein a liquid and a composition which can react with such liquid to produce a reducing gas are placed in adjacent receptacles each sealed by a rupturable film. A rupturing means can then be inserted through the rupturable films to enable the liquid and composition to come into reactive contact and generate the desired gases. A catalyst is located in an adjacent receptacle which communicates with the surrounding atmosphere to catalyze the reaction between the reducing gas and oxygen to thus remove oxygen from the surrounding atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4239132
Abstract: Dispensing apparatus for a flexible container, including a closure for the container and an expansible bladder associated with the closure and adapted to fit within the container to expand and displace the dispensed contents. The closure has two openings, one at which it is attached to the container and the other forming an outlet for dispensing. A conduit extends from the bladder into the closure and communicates to the exterior of the closure and container through one of the two openings. The outlet opening is constructed to allow the contents to flow only in a direction from the container during use and a check valve allows flow through the conduit only into the bladder.

  • Patent number: 4220252
Abstract: Container apparatus for processing biological specimens therein is described wherein a perforated receptacle member with abutment means is attached through a frangible hinge portion to a perforated cover member with detent means. When the cover member is rotated about the hinge to mate against the receptacle member, the detent means become interengageable with the abutment means to hold the cover and receptacle members in removable mating relationship.

  • Patent number: 4116227
Abstract: A combination catheter venting and urine sample collecting unit comprises a hollow open-ended body having an outlet and adapted to receive and communicate with a conduit extending to a urine collecting reservoir and an inlet adapted to receive and communicate with a catheter extending to the bladder. The body further has a urine collection needle-receiving port and a number of circumferentially spaced venting apertures spaced longitudinally of the said needle-receiving port. A strip of bacteria and liquid impermeable, and air-permeable filtering material is positioned in liquid-sealing relation beneath the venting apertures. The filtering material is carried on the outside of an open-ended support tube having circumferentially spaced apertures in alignment with said venting apertures. The support tube is enveloped by said body which is preferably molded about the tube. The body has a continuous outer annular indented wall surface upon which the needle-receiving port opens.
