  • Patent number: 5385564
Abstract: A system for packaging and using granulated solid dialysate concentrate. A bag is constructed to hold granulated or powder concentrate, having a V-shaped bottom with an access port in the bottom. Water is flowed through the access port and into the bag using suitable water control means. The incoming water lifts and suspends the granules or powder in a turbulent flow, thereby filling the container simultaneous with dissolving the granules or powder. The water with dissolve concentrate then constitutes the dialysis solution and is ready for use or transfer to a dialysate delivery machine.

  • Patent number: 5303751
Abstract: A sealed, flexible plastic sheet bag for storing liquids that is penetrable by a spiked connector through a spike channel fitting. The spike channel fitting is sealed between a pair of folds on one side of the bag so that the inside port of the channel is adjacent to the folded plastic sheet. The spike is inserted through the channel of the spike channel fitting and punctures the plastic sheet to tap the bag to remove the liquid. Leakage is prevented by both the seal between the plastic sheet and the spike and the seal between the bag and the spike channel fitting.

  • Patent number: 5074844
Abstract: A medical fluid administration set is disclosed which may be used for the passive reconstitution and delivery of a drug or other beneficial agent with liquid flowing through the administration set. A receptacle mounted in the administration set is adapted for receiving a cartridge containing the beneficial agent. Also disclosed is an adapter for connecting the cartridge and the receptacle and an air flask within the administration set.

  • Patent number: 4874366
Abstract: A housing is provided for insertion in an intravenous delivery system including a fluid source and a fluid conduit. The housing is adapted for receiving a beneficial agent to be mixed with fluid flowing through the fluid conduit. The beneficial agent is reconstituted within the housing, eliminating the need for manual reconstitution. The housing may comprise a separate receptacle and cartridge in which the receptacle is manufactured "in-line" in an administration set and the cartridge is adapted for receiving a beneficial agent. In one embodiment of the invention, the cartridge is a standard drug vial.

  • Patent number: 4511529
Abstract: A one-piece integral plastic container is disclosed which has an outer closure or overcap removable along a frangible line of weakness, and a separately-formed inner closure that is maintained in sterile condition by the outer closure until the container contents are dispensed. The inner closure comprises a tubular member inserted in fluid-tight relationship within the container neck after the container body and neck are molded, but prior to formation of the outer closure. The tubular member thus provides the dispensing outlet for the container and is maintained in sterile condition by the overcap which encloses it.

  • Patent number: 4478342
Abstract: A container which includes body, neck and cover portions of one-piece plastic construction and a line of weakness defined between the neck and cover portions to permit selective separation of the cover from the neck, further includes an inner closure carried by and removable with the cover portion to prevent spillage of the container contents upon opening of the container. The inner closure is disposed to seal the neck below the line of weakness to isolate the contents of the container from the area of the line of weakness. When the container is heat sterilized, means is provided associated with the chamber defined by the cover and closure to prevent collapse of the cover during the post heat-sterilization cooling cycle. The associated means includes structure to provide moist air in the defined chamber during heating of the container without endangering the sterility of the container contents or nullifying the advantage of the inner closure.
