  • Patent number: 9845928
Abstract: An in-grade light fixture is provided with a corrugated housing design. The corrugated housing design enhances structural integrity and the flow of air within the light fixture to facilitate cooling. The light fixture includes an annular door with slots aligned with the corrugations to facilitate the influx of cool air into the housing and the exhaust of hot air from the housing. The light fixture includes a hot-aiming system that allows a tilt optic to be rotated via magnetic force within the light fixture using an external instrument, such as magnetic wand. The beam direction can be rotated using this hot-aiming system without opening the light fixture.

  • Patent number: 8783916
Abstract: A recessed light includes an enclosure with a cavity, an opening into the cavity and a mounting surface about the periphery of the opening. An intermediate light assembly including a peripheral frame and a lamp is mounted on the mounting surface of the enclosure. The peripheral frame includes a main frame and extension rings which can be stacked to extend the lamp away from the cavity. The lamp has an array of light emitting diodes on a substrate which is affixed to and thermally integral with a pivotally mounted reflector mounted to the peripheral frame. • Patent number: 8753030
Abstract: A knuckle assembly for mounting an electrical device includes a rotatable knuckle mount, an articulated knuckle and an electrical device mount. Two knuckle elements forming the articulated knuckle each include an open cavity, which together form a closed cavity. One of the knuckle elements is pivotally attached to the rotatable knuckle mount and the other includes the electrical device mount. A grommet is positioned in the closed cavity; and a fastener engages the knuckle elements and extends through the grommet. The grommet includes spherical or spheroidal segments complementary to the inner surfaces of the closed cavity and in interfering fit when assembled. The grommet is in non-rotational engagement with one of the knuckle elements. Wires extend through the grommet adjacent a central through hole. A fastener extending through the central through hole draws the knuckle elements together to fix the grommet and seal the assembly.

  • Patent number: 7690816
Abstract: A fountain lighting system including a light engine head containing an LED light engine and a control housing containing control gear electronics includes a fixture support providing thermal separation between the light engine head and the control housing. The fixture support includes a lid with a bar extending from the edge thereof. The lid closes the control housing while the bar mounts the light engine head. An anchoring mount is also on the bar. The lid includes receptacles for receiving power, control and light engine cables with wicking barriers separating the various components provided in the lid itself. Temperature sensors in the light engine head and in the control housing send data communication to the control gear electronics to limit power to avoid thermal loading. The control gear electronics modulates the power to prevent apparent cycling. A pool lighting system provides similar features in a niche. A gap open to the niche thermally separates the light engine head from the control housing.

  • Patent number: 6068384
Abstract: A lamp assembly for outdoor purpose includes a housing, a lamp module, and a potted power module. A support ring is positioned within the housing so as to connect the housing to the lamp module. An additional tilt ring may be connected therewith to provide an additional degree of movement. The support ring and, if included, the associated tilt ring has the ability to key the lamp module to the housing. This makes it possible to relamp or perform maintenance on the lamp without affecting the aim or distribution of the light. In addition, the lamp assembly preferably includes at least one flue plate disposed between the lamp module and the housing to form at least one flue, the at least one flue advantageously creates and maintains convective cooling within the housing of the lamp assembly during operation.

  • Patent number: 5727873
Abstract: A light assembly for outdoor purposes utilizing a supportive and corrosion protective housing allowing below grade placement. Individualized lamp and electrical component assemblies are separately sealed from water infiltration and are located within the housing with electrical connections provided by submersible rated cable and connectors. A potting material in the lamp assembly encapsulates the electrical wires which are further surrounded by a solid soldering compound barrier. A closure assembly separately seals the electrical components using a mounting base, a harness and a potting body which form one body through molding of the potting body about the remainder of he elements. A harness assembly wicking barrier is employed which further isolates the transformer from water infiltration. Bare metal strips forming conductors are encapsulated in the potting material. A face ring with slotted openings permits air flow and water entry into the housing for cooling the lamp assembly.
