An aqueous dispersing agent is added to an aqueous medium in an amount sufficient to disperse the comminuted solid in the aqueous medium. The aqueous dispersing agent includes from about 10 wt. % to about 55 wt. % of an amine compound selected from the group consisting of alkanolamines, triethylamine and morpholine, from about 15 wt. % to about 35 wt. % of a base selected from the group consisting of sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, and from about 0.1 wt. % to about 15 wt. % chelating agent.
