    Abstract: An assembly for mailing an article requiring special services and a method for mailing same are provided. The assembly includes a return postcard, two anchor portions disposed on either side of the postcard, printer track strips having a plurality of holes for engaging a printer, such as a dot matrix printer, and a hole capable of being sensed by another type of printer, such as a thermal printer. The indicia printed upon the mailing assembly including the designator indicating the special service required, are printed using a single color thereby simplifying the printing process. The return postcard is removably attached to anchor portions such that the return postcard remains attached to the envelope until received by the addressee, at which time the return postcard may be removed from the anchor portions. The assembly is designed to incorporate a form into the return postcard to simplify preparation of the mailpiece for delivery by the special service.

    Abstract: A mailing assembly for use in connection with non-domestic delivery of a mailpiece wherein the sender of the mailpiece is required to complete a sender's declaration. The assembly includes a mailing form that may be sub-divided into customs declarations forms, a dispatch notice and a backing sheet. The backing sheet may be peeled off the mailing form exposing adhesive on the backing sheet. The backing sheet may be folded in such a way as to provide an envelope to adhere to the mailpiece to be non-domestically delivered. The customs declarations forms and, dispatch notice may then be inserted into the envelope whereupon the mailpiece may be non-domestically delivered. The customs declaration forms and dispatch notice of the mailing form may be variably printed with information to aid in the non-domestic delivery of the mailpiece.

    Abstract: A label useful in delivering articles via many different mailing services, including Priority Mail, Express Mail and International Express Mail, and a method for delivering an article are provided. The label is adapted to indicate thereon mailing and address information relating to the mailing, shipping or handling of packages or articles. The label is constructed as a laminate having a primary layer and a secondary layer wherein each layer has a surface confronting and adjoined to the other layer. Mailing information is included on a front side and may also include spaces for receiving additional mailing information thereon. The label has a tear line provided on the primary label which defines a removable receipt flap on the label. The receipt flap contains a portion of the mailing label and is adapted to receive additional information. An area is exposed beneath the receipt flap on the secondary layer when the receipt flap is removed from the primary layer along the tear line.

The assembly includes a generic mailing label having a back side adhesively and detachably affixed to a backing sheet as well as a multi-colored panel ribbon for imprinting special service mailing information thereon. The label may be imaged with all of the information necessary, including a colored background, to serve as one of many types of special service mailing labels. Removal of the label from the associated backing sheet allows the label to be permanently affixed to a mailpiece. Upon delivery of the mailpiece, a return receipt postcard portion of the label may be removed and forwarded to the sender of the mailpiece as a return receipt.

The form is designed so that information unique to the mailpiece, such as the identification of the sender and addressee and special handling requests, can be printed on one side of the form only.
