Publication number: 20080062013Abstract: A self-powered switching system using electromechanical generators generates power for activation of a latching relay. The electromechanical generators comprise electroactive elements that may be mechanically actuated to generate electrical power. The associated signal generation circuitry may be coupled to a transmitter or transceiver for sending and/or receiving RF signals to/from a receiver which actuates the latching relay. Power may be stored within the circuit using rechargeable batteries for powering or supplementing power to the transmitter or transceiver. The self-powered switches are included in multi-gang configurations for installation with one or more conventional wired switches. The single or multigang switches may be mounted on the wall surface. Alternately the single or multigang switch may be mounted in a flange or bracket and recessed into a hole in the wall to provide a narrower mounted profile.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2007Publication date: March 13, 2008Inventors: Bradbury Face, Glenn Rogers

Patent number: 6775303Abstract: A communications device is presented that allows dynamic bandwidth allocation of an unswitched data path based upon the current utilization of one or more switched data channels. The device operates over the local loop of a digital communications carrier, such as a T1 line, that has a variety of time division multiplexed channels. Each data channel can be configured to operate as a channel dedicated to carrying unswitched data on the unswitched data path, or as a switched channel. Switched channels maintain status information about their current status, allowing switched data communication when the channel's status is active, and permitting the unswitched data path to utilize the channel when the channel's status is idle. In one embodiment, channel status information is passed to a remote unit by altering a redundant robbed-bit signaling bit in a multiframe. In a second embodiment, channel status is determined by monitoring switching information that is already transmitted about the channel.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1999Date of Patent: August 10, 2004Assignee: Digi International, Inc.Inventors: Mark Rustad, Terry A. Stripsky, Steve Wahl, Glenn A. Rogers

Publication number: 20040074834Abstract: The Modular Aquaculture Filtration System (“MAFS”) employs small modular filtration units which may be linked together to form larger filters of a particular type or combined to form filtration systems with various types of filters. In essence, two or more modular filtration units are interlocked together to form a single cell system for processing water from aquaculture tanks. The modular units are each comprised of a housing, which includes a means for rigidly attaching/interlocking one housing to another housing, and a one or more of several different types of filtration techniques. Thus, the modular filtration units act as the building blocks for constructing larger filters of a particular type, by interlocking several MAFS of the same type together, or for constructing filter systems that employ several different filtration techniques. The modular approach of the MAFS provides a level of flexibility heretofore unavailable for filtration systems in the aquaculture industry.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2003Publication date: April 22, 2004Inventors: Gregory Alan Beckman, Glenn Roger Snapp, Terrence Robert McCarthy
