  • Patent number: 4425242
Abstract: Methods of increasing hydrocarbon production from subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formations are provided wherein the formations are contacted with cationic perfluoro compounds represented by the following formula: ##STR1## Such perfluoro compounds are adsorbed onto surfaces of the formation and prevent or substantially reduce wetting of the surfaces.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 1982
Date of Patent: January 10, 1984
    Assignee: Halliburton Company
Inventors: Glenn S. Penny, James E. Briscoe
  • Patent number: 4408043
Abstract: Fluorinated compounds of the formula ##STR1## are disclosed. The cationic amine compounds are useful as surfactants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 1982
Date of Patent: October 4, 1983
    Assignee: Nalco Chemical Company
Inventors: Virgil L. Seale, James R. Stanford, James E. Briscoe, Glenn S. Penny
  • Patent number: 4404377

  • Patent number: 4377710
Abstract: A composition represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein x is an integer of from 2-12; y is an integer or fractional integer of from 1-20; Q is chosen from the group consisting of:(a) chloro, bromo, and iodo halogen radicals, and(b) a cationic nitrolgen radical represented by the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 are aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals which contain from 1-30 carbon atoms and are further selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, alkaryl and cyclo aliphatic radicals, with the proviso that when any of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 exceed four carbon atoms, the other two hydrocarbon radicals are each chosen from the group consisting of ethyl and methyl hydrocarbon radicals; Z is a halogen anion chosen from the group consisting of chloride, bromide, and iodide with the further proviso that at least 50% of the radicals represented by Q are (b) radicals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 1982
Date of Patent: March 22, 1983
    Assignee: Nalco Chemical Company
