Patent number: 11200206Abstract: While a mounted file system with a file system transaction logging capability is in a metadata frozen state, a file system transaction on the file system is performed, the transaction comprising a logged set of metadata updates required to implement the transaction in the file system, the performing comprising diverting the set of metadata updates from the file system to a temporary storage location outside the file system. During the metadata frozen state, a consistency check on metadata of the file system is performed, the consistency check attempting to identify an inconsistency in the metadata. The file system is recovered from the metadata frozen state, the recovering comprising implementing the diverted set of metadata updates on the file system.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2019Date of Patent: December 14, 2021Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Robert Thompson, Kenneth Anderson, Yanhua Yang, Rama Mothey Tenjarla, Roy Glenn Spencer

Publication number: 20210042268Abstract: Within metadata of a mounted file system with a file system transaction logging capability, a set of inodes is identified, each inode in the set of inodes comprising a data structure identifying a file system storage location of a portion of a file stored in the file system. A set of unused inodes is excluded from the set of inodes. A set of changing inodes is excluded from the set of inodes, each inode in the set of changing inodes comprising a flag indicating an in-progress write operation. A consistency check is performed on the metadata of the file system excluding the set of unused inodes and the set of changing inodes, the consistency check attempting to identify an inconsistency in the metadata. Responsive to the consistency check identifying an inconsistency in the metadata, the file system is remediated.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2019Publication date: February 11, 2021Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Robert Thompson, Kenneth Anderson, Yanhua Yang, Rama Mothey Tenjarla, Roy Glenn Spencer

Patent number: 9625594Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a barrier detection system that includes a plurality of sensors that are coupled in series to a seismograph. The seismograph receives a signal from the sensors. The system includes a computer system including computer storage and a processor. The computer system is in communication with the seismograph so that the computer system receives signals from seismograph and stores them in the computer storage. The system can include an object detection system that can process the signals received by the computer system from the seismograph. The object detection system can select a first portion of the signal to analyze based a predetermined time interval, create a baseline value for the first portion, and select a plurality of peaks from the first portion. The object detection can also analyze an amplitude, frequency, and periodicity of the first portion to assess the origin of the signal.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2015Date of Patent: April 18, 2017Assignee: ARDMORE ASSOCIATES, LLCInventors: Glenn Spencer, Michael S. King

Patent number: 7566825Abstract: Adjustable hand rest attachment for a musical instrument, wherein the hand rest post is constructed to provide multiple adjustments of the position of the hand rest on which the hand or hands of the musical performer rest when playing a musical instrument, such as a bassoon or contrabassoon. The adjustable hand rest attachment incorporates an articulated hand rest post to allow for varying angles of adjustment. The adjustable positioning of the hand rest achievable through adjustment of the articulated and adjustable hand rest post, reduces discomfort for the player and reduces injury with overuse. The adjustments of the hand rest and the hand rest post may then be secured into a fixed position. A bassoon is equipped with a key mechanism that is constructed using a tube that consists of a tenor joint, a boot (also known as a double) joint, a long joint, and a bell joint.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2008Date of Patent: July 28, 2009Inventors: Terry Barnard Ewell, Richard Glenn Spencer
