  • Patent number: 9340238
Abstract: An extrusion is provided that may be used in the construction of a framework assembly and that is lighter, stronger and less expensive than previously available extrusions. In various aspects, the extrusion generally has four sides and is quadrangular in cross-section. A web member may extend the inside of the cross-section of the extrusion between two of the sides. The web member thus may bisect the interior of extrusion forming a first interior cavity and a second interior cavity. The first and second cavities may be equally dimensioned in cross-section. The extrusion may be a metal extrusion formed from aluminum and/or steel.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5555695
Abstract: A channeled extrusion for both framing and holding flexible coverings, such as in fabric covered awnings and similar framed, flexible cover structures. Such extrusions commonly contain at least one opening or channeled side, and when such extrusions are bent or arcuately formed in order to provide for curved surfaces, the channeled side may tend to close due to the opposing forces applied in the opposite walls due to the bending action. This is especially true when the channeled side is parallel to the plane of bending. The extrusions provided preclude this closing tendency of the slot and offer lateral structural stability. These provided extrusions can be formed into arcuate shapes without the need for spacers in the channel or special bending tools designed to prevent the closure of the channel. The reinforcement means provided include these elements: an inner lateral web, thickened upper walls, distension zones, stress-relieving indentations, and inner longitudinal bracing.

  • Patent number: 5076033
Abstract: The present invention discloses various novel methods of conjoining parallel structural members of awning or other fabric framing structures, as well as an apparatus for accomplishing those methods. By properly orienting the structural members to be conjoined and securing them together with a properly formed clamp, the existing staple channel cover may also serve as a light and water tight seal between fabric covered sections of such structures. Various combinations of such structural members are disclosed, with methods described of conjoining those members and providing for sealing between such members.
