Abstract: An electronic device comprises an enclosure, an attachment mechanism coupled to the enclosure, an electronic tag disposed within the enclosure, and a power source in electrical communication with the electronic tag. The electronic device can also include a power switch for the electronic tag. The electronic device can be used in a method of tracking a component. The method can include coupling a plurality of electronic tags to a plurality of components prior to shipping the plurality of components, reading one or more of the plurality of electronic tags using a reader, obtaining information from the one or more of the plurality of electronic tags in response to the reading, and storing the information from the one or more of the plurality of electronic tags.
