  • Patent number: 7774117
Abstract: An engine output controller provided in a bulldozer includes an output curve storage device storing a plurality of output curves of an engine and an output curve changing device selecting and shifting to one of the plurality of output curves. The output curve changing device, when a pressure of a blade tilt cylinder is equal to or more than a predetermined value, calls and shifts to a higher output curve from the output curve storage device. When an oil pressure is supplied to the tilt cylinder to tilt a blade and an operation is performed without reducing a soil pressing speed in this condition, the output curve changing device shifts the current output curve to the higher output curve to drive the engine. However, in many other cases, the output curve is automatically switched to a lower output curve to reduce an output of the engine. Thus, the fuel consumption is improved.

  • Patent number: 6058916
Abstract: A control apparatus includes a detecting means (16) for detecting the position of an accelerator pedal (14) or an accelerator lever, a clutch (8) which is disposed between a diesel engine (1) and the mechanical supercharger (10), and a coupling/decoupling means (16) for coupling or decoupling a clutch (8) based on a signal from the detecting means (16). A control method includes the steps of detecting the stroke distance of the accelerator pedal (14) or the accelerator lever, and operating the mechanical supercharger (10) when the stroke distance detected ranges from a predetermined value in the vicinity of the full stroke to the full stroke. This improves responsiveness in the initial stage of acceleration, and obtains better normal running performance and better hill-climbing ability.

  • Patent number: 5595145
Abstract: A diesel engine piston, which exhibits high resistance to heat load, has a cooling cavity formed circumferentially around and outwardly of the outer periphery of a reentrant combustion chamber. A cooling liquid inlet passageway through which cooling liquid is supplied is provided in the piston body. The inside diameter of the cooling cavity is smaller adjacent to the top of the piston than adjacent to the bottom of the piston, and the cross-sectional area of the cooling cavity gradually increases from the bottom of the cooling cavity toward the top of the cooling cavity. A funnel wall, which projects downwardly toward the bottom of the piston, serves as the inlet of the cooling liquid inlet passageway. A distributing member, positioned within the cooling cavity directly above the outlet of the cooling liquid inlet passageway, splits the cooling liquid into two streams for passage in opposite directions through two segments of the cooling cavity.
