  • Patent number: 8737391
Abstract: A method of specifying a switching matrix over a Bene{hacek over (s)} network involves specifying a first number of ingress ports and a second number of egress ports for the matrix. Switching elements and connections between the switching elements are configured to the number of ports, and the matrix is subdivided into a plurality of sections. The switching elements and ports are moved and/or turned to obtain certain configurations, but connections are retained.

  • Publication number: 20110090905
Abstract: A method is proposed to specify a switching matrix (SM) for connecting selected ingress ports to selected egress ports of the a Benes network with a plurality of interconnected switching elements (SE) arranged in stages (S1-S7). At least one input of any of the switching elements has a connection (CO) to an output of one of the switching elements (SE) in a preceding stage or an ingress port, and the at least one output of any switching element has a connection (CO) to an input of one of the switching elements (SE) in a subsequent stage or to an egress port. In the method, a first number of ingress ports (A1-A6) and a second number of egress ports (B1-B6) of the switching matrix (SM) are specified, at least one of said numbers deviating from an integer power of 2 or from the other number. The number of the switching elements (SE) and the number of the connections (CO) between the switching elements are adapted to the in the sections is equal while retaining the connections specified numbers of ports.

  • Patent number: 7489627
Abstract: For upgrading a section of a telecommunication network comprising two nodes, one of the data lines interconnecting the nodes is selected to be a carrier of redundant specimens of information units to be transmitted. An external condition is fulfilled, which is detected by a control unit of the node and causes the control unit to block changes to connections going via the line. In this state, the interface circuits of nodes connected to the selected line are replaced by more powerful ones, and the condition is unfulfilled again. The method is repeated for the other data line.
