Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for controlling an AV device, comprising a web browser receiving a structured document to contain a script from the AV device, and providing the same to a user, and a first program module including a function called by the script and transmitting information on a device control command to the AV device through a protocol previously defined by use of the function, wherein the AV device comprises a web server module transmitting the structured document and a second program module receiving the device control command information from the first program module through the protocol and controlling the AV device in response to the command information.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing an image-based remote user interface (UI) using a web browser are provided. A server includes an user interface (UI) application which provides a dynamic image; a server communication module which, if the dynamic image is updated, transmits an image update event for the updated dynamic image; and a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) server which receives a request corresponding to the image update event and transmits the updated dynamic image in response to the received request. The method includes if an image in a remote user interface (UI) is updated, transmitting an image update event for the updated image; receiving a request corresponding to the image update event; and transmitting the updated image in response to the received request.

Abstract: A method of connecting to the Internet via a broadcast receiving device and an apparatus for the same are provided. The method includes extracting transport stream (TS) from a received broadcast signal, obtaining mapping information between channel numbers and web addresses from the TS, and if a channel number selected by a user is included in the mapping information, connecting to the Internet via a web address mapped to the selected channel number.

The method includes: decoding compressed contents into prior-to-compression contents; generating packets including the decoded contents and the copy control information; and transmitting the packets through a predetermined link. An unauthorized copying of the decoded video data is prevented.

Abstract: A system for retrieving information by one click using caption information having a broadcasting signal receiving portion for receiving a broadcasting signal including caption information, a caption information storing portion for storing the received caption information, a sentence analyzing portion for separating a main word from the stored caption information, an Internet retrieving portion for performing an Internet retrieving operation using at least one word of the caption information, a displaying portion for displaying a retrieved result of the Internet retrieving portion on a screen on which the broadcasting signal is displayed, an input portion for inputting an instruction for displaying the retrieved result, and a retrieved result storing portion for storing the retrieved result. If the user inputs the information retrieving instruction through the input portion, the information retrieving operation for the caption information is performed at the same time as the user is viewing.
