  • Patent number: 6505410
Abstract: An adjustable gauge having special attention to measuring the dimensions of a fillet weld. The gauge includes a first plate that is rectangular in shape and terminates in an edge which transverses one corner, and a second plate that is circular in shape. The front face of the first plate has a recess therein sized to accommodate the second plate, wherein the plates are rotatably mounted about an axis of rotation and juxtaposed to one another. The gauge also indicates a linear member slidably mounted along the same axis of rotation as the first and second plates upon the second plate. The linear member is extendible in relation to the second plate so as to measure the dimension of the weld.

  • Patent number: 6059320
Abstract: A split, ring-shaped pipe spacer used to maintain separation between a pipe and a fitting shoulder during welding. The spacer has pairs of yieldable offset segments. The two segments of each pair bulge from the spacer body in opposite directions to maintain proper spacing between the pipe and fitting during welding. The opposing offset segments also permit bi-directional insertion of the spacer into the fitting, position the spacer body out of contact with both the pipe and the fitting, and minute and distribute the stress imparted to the spacer when forming the segments during manufacturing. The spacer ends forming the split in the spacer have a tongue-in-groove shape to accommodate circumferential expansion of the spacer under compression of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5815938
Abstract: A gage according to the present invention for use in measuring engagement parts of a pneumatic hose coupler and including a body and a spring loaded contact rotatably mounted to the body. The body includes an alignment part for locating the gage on the coupler and a member for contacting one of the engagement parts. The contact is biased into contact with another of the engagement parts and calibrated indicator marks provide a visual indication of the angular distance between the two parts. Sights through the gage measure another angular dimension between coupler engagement parts. The gage also includes a plug part for measuring vertical clearance between other parts of the coupler.

  • Patent number: 5573229
Abstract: A fixture for aligning clamping pipes end to end to enable joining the pipes by welding includes a collar circumscribing one of the pipes and circumferentially spaced arms extending outwardly from the collar and then coaxially with the pipes. Pipe damps are supported by each of the arms at approximately 120 degrees intervals about the pipe. The stems of the clamps are supported by the arms such that proper orientation of the clamping shoes and guide members is assured. Furthermore, an extension of the stem which projects between the pipes and carries an inner guide member for engagement with the inner circumferential surface of the pipe has a differential thickness such that the pipes are initially separated by a predetermined thickness by engagement of the pipes with the necked portion of the extension for tack welding.

  • Patent number: 5465498
Abstract: A metric and English measuring gauge including parallel first and second bar members having mutually engaging side faces and including contact end portions for engagement with tubular members wherein the offset of such tubular members will be indicated by the relative longitudinal position of the bar members. A shoulder retaining part is enclosed around the bar members and has windows on opposite sides for observing metric and English scales imprinted un opposite sides of the bar members for measuring wall thickness.
