Publication number: 20220172511Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and techniques for synchronizing cameras and tagging images for face authentication. For face authentication by a facial recognition model, a dual infrared camera may generate an image stream by alternating between capturing a “flood image” and a “dot image” and tagging each image with metadata that indicates whether the image is a flood or a dot image. Accurately tagging images can be difficult due to dropped frames and errors in metadata tags. The disclosed systems and techniques provide for the improved synchronization of cameras and tagging of images to promote accurate facial recognition.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2019Publication date: June 2, 2022Applicant: Google LLCInventors: Zhijun He, Wen Yu Chien, Po-Jen Chang, Xu Han, Adarsh Prakash Murthy Kowdle, Jae Min Purvis, Lu Gao, Gopal Parupudi, Clayton Merrill Kimber

Patent number: 8418140Abstract: Many current computer software platforms support user customization and version upgradability. Unfortunately, upgrading a computer software platform may result in significant loss of user customization data. Additionally, it may be advantageous for users to export and import their customization data to share as customized business solutions with other instances of the computer software platforms. Accordingly, a technique for creating and importing a configuration package and a technique for creating and utilizing an update package is disclosed herein. The configuration package allows configuration data of elements within a computer software platform to be exported and imported. The update package allows elements to be exported within the update package. The update package may be utilized in upgrading, overwriting, and/or creating a new instance of elements. When an existing element is upgraded with an update element within the update package, the existing element's original configuration may be retained.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2009Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Jayaram R. Patent number: 8327132Abstract: A method of certificate provisioning is provided for entities that are not associated with a domain. In some implementations, certificate provisioning methods allow non-domain-joined entities to request and receive certificates through an automated process with a certificate provisioning portal. Through the automated process, the identity of the client may be verified using security identity information. The security identity information may include a pre-shared secret or a previously issued certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2007Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gopal Parupudi, Jagannatha Raju Dantuluri, Prabhu Padhi, Ram Sunkara

Publication number: 20120100873Abstract: Location-aware methods and systems are described. In one embodiment, a portable computing device determines its location by accessing one or more hierarchical tree structures each of which comprising multiple nodes that represent physical or logical locations, and traversing at least one node on the one or more hierarchical tree structures to ascertain the location. The device then acquires digital data associated with the determined location and that can permit the device to interact with a location environment. The device then enables interaction with the location environment based, at least in part, on the acquired digital data.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2011Publication date: April 26, 2012Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gopal Parupudi, Stephen S. Patent number: 7975229Abstract: Context-aware systems and methods, location-aware systems and methods, context-aware vehicles and methods of operating the same, and location-aware vehicles and methods of operating the same are described. In various embodiments, a context or location service module, implemented in software, determines a vehicle context or a vehicle location based upon information that it receives from various context providers or location providers respectively. Software executing on a vehicle's computer can then cause one or more applications that are associated with a vehicle computer to be modified in a manner that changes their behavior. The behavior modification is based on the current context or location of the vehicle and thus provides a context-specific or location-specific user experience. The context or location can be ascertained through the use of one or more hierarchical tree structures that comprises individual nodes. Each node is associated with a context or location.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2004Date of Patent: July 5, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gopal Parupudi, Stephen S. Evans, Edward F. Patent number: 7743074Abstract: Context-aware computing systems and methods are described. In particular embodiments, location aware systems and methods are described. In the described embodiments, hierarchical tree structures are utilized to ascertain a device context or location. The tree structures can be stored on or accessible to mobile or stationary computing devices so that the devices can determine their own particular context or location. In one embodiment, one of the tree structures comprises a Master World tree structure that contains nodes that represent geographical divisions of the Earth. Another of the tree structures can comprise a so-called Secondary World that contains nodes that represent physical or logical entities that are organization or company specific views of the world. A computing device can automatically determine its context or location by ascertaining a node on one or more of the tree structures and then traversing the tree structure to ascertain the complete context.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2000Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gopal Parupudi, Stephen S. Patent number: 7702778Abstract: A method and system for providing system event notifications to clients such as applications. Clients register for notification of one or more types of events with a registration mechanism, and a System Event Notification Service, (SENS), receives system event information and fires event notifications in response thereto. A distribution mechanism selectively communicates the fired event to each client registered for notification thereof based on the type of event. Events include network events, for which the service monitors the connectivity state of the machine, including whether a connection is established or lost, the type of connection (LAN/WAN) and bandwidth information. To monitor a LAN state, the service caches outgoing and incoming network information including errors and packet counts and statistically evaluates this cached information against current information to determine whether the connection is established or lost.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2005Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gopal Parupudi, Mario C. Goertzel, Murthy Srinivas

Patent number: 7600123Abstract: Techniques for registering certificates after the issuance of the certificates are provided. A service provider securely registers a client's identity and its certificate without depending on or using an existing basis of trust, such as that provided by domain-joined clients or a security directory (e.g., MICROSOFT's ACTIVE DIRECTORY). The service provider provides services, such as, by way of example and not a limitation, email services, web application services, application services, etc., based on identifiers (e.g., service IDs) issued to registered clients. The service provider subsequently uses the issued identifier to authenticate a client requesting a service or services, and to authorize the client to receive the requested service or services.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2005Date of Patent: October 6, 2009Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gopal Parupudi, Prabhu Dutt Padhi, Rajagopalan Badri Narayanan, Ram P. Patent number: 7526677Abstract: A method is provided for handling failures in a computer system including a compliance checking system in a computer network. In response to a client computer failing to obtain a compliance check, a determination is made as to a category of an error that at least partially caused the failure in obtaining the compliance check. As a result, the method includes performing an action to at least partially based on the determined category of the error. In some instances, the action can include allowing the client computer to connect to the network. Another method includes receiving a definition of a configurable mitigation rule, where the configurable mitigation rule describes an action to perform at least partially based on the category of an error. Yet another method includes receiving a selection of a security level of operation of the compliance checking system.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2005Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Calvin Choon-Hwan Choe, Gopal Parupudi, Mukunda S.
