  • Patent number: 10846140
Abstract: A system and method for backing up workloads for multiple tenants of a cloud computing system are disclosed. A method of backing up workloads for multiple tenants of a computing system, includes determining that a first tenant has elected to maintain a copy of backups in an off-site location and a second tenant has elected to not maintain a copy of backups in an off-site location, directing first backup data of the first tenant to a backup storage device within the computing system and to a backup storage device at the off-site location, and directing second backup data of the second tenant to the backup storage device within the computing system, and not to the backup storage device at the off-site location.

  • Publication number: 20200364194
Abstract: The systems and methods provide for migrating database management system (DBMS) applications to cloud storage by automating a continuous replication of changes made to the DBMS from the DBMS to an associated cloud instance. For example, the systems and methods facilitate the migration of the DBMS via multiple processes performing in parallel —a process to create and provision a new machine instance (e.g., an EC2 instance), a process to clone and transfer parameters of the operating system/software of the DBMS, and a process that backs up and/or captures the application data of the DBMS. In some embodiments, the systems and methods, utilizing parallel processes, and combining outputs of the processes to a synchronization process, efficiently and quickly migrate DBMS applications to cloud storage, among other benefits.

  • Patent number: 10831545
Abstract: Backups of workloads in a multi-tenant cloud computing environment are efficiently queued and scheduled. A method of backing up workloads for multiple tenants of a cloud computing system, includes the steps of determining a pool of workloads to be backed up during a time window, the workloads including workloads for a first tenant and workloads for a second tenant, placing a backup task for backing up each of the workloads in the pool in a scheduling queue and prioritizing the backup tasks according to backup parameters specified by the tenants, sizes of workload data to be backed up, and hardware constraints of a backup storage device executing the backups, and instructing the backup storage device to execute the backup tasks according to an order of the backup tasks in the scheduling queue.

  • Publication number: 20200349027
Abstract: The present inventors devised a holistic approach for protecting serverless applications in single-cloud, multi-zone, multi-cloud, and/or non-cloud data center computing environments. An illustrative data storage management system discovers application assets, relationships, and interoperability dependencies and creates an “application entity” that references the various assets. Protection preferences apply to the application entity as a whole. An orchestration function in the system coordinates storage management operations (e.g., backup, replication, live synchronization, etc.) in a suitable order of operations gleaned from asset dependencies, if any. A set of copies of the application's discovered assets are generated in coordinated fashion and represent a point-in-time copy of the application. The point-in-time copy can be restored and/or migrated to other computing services by the data storage management system.

  • Publication number: 20200102185
Abstract: A system for providing an automatic software upgrade assistant for remote elevator monitoring experts using machine learning. The system performs operations that include receiving a request from a requestor to install a software upgrade on a controller of an elevator component, the software upgrade dependent on at least one software program being installed on the controller. It is determined whether the at least one software program is installed on the controller. Based at least in part on determining that the at least one software program is installed on the controller: an elapsed time to complete the installation of the software upgrade on the controller is predicted; and an indication is output to the requestor that the software upgrade is permitted to be installed on the controller and the predicted elapsed time to complete the installation.

  • Publication number: 20200042307
Abstract: A processor-implemented method for pushing a revision to an automated passenger conveying subsystem is provided. The processor-implemented method receives the revision over a network to make the revision available to one or more subsystems. An application executed on a processor of the network, then, receives a selection input identifying the automated passenger conveying subsystem of the one or more subsystems. In turn, the application sends a message to the automated passenger conveying subsystem based on the selection input. The message identifies that the revision is available for downloading and deployment. An exchange operation is executed to push the revision to the automated passenger conveying subsystem.

  • Publication number: 20200036581
Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein manage and resolve incidents in hybridity manager applications, without the back-and-forth manual steps of the traditional software support lifecycle. In one embodiment, a virtual network operations center (NOC) with a centralized view of distributed, cross-cloud hybridity manager installations is responsible for tracking incident reports relating to hybridity managers and associated bugs, and the virtual NOC automatically publishes notifications of upgrade builds that fix the tracked bugs to the appropriate hybridity managers. When the same bug is encountered again with another hybridity manager instance, the virtual NOC may also publish an upgrade notification to the other hybridity manager instance, without requiring a support ticket to be filed, etc.

  • Patent number: 10445122
Abstract: Techniques are provided for reducing the amount of data that to be transferred in a hybrid cloud system in order to spawn a VM at a private cloud computing system from a template library stored in a public cloud computing system. Instead of storing full virtual machine templates, template libraries at the public cloud computing system are “differential” libraries. Differential templates in these differential libraries only include data that is different as compared with either a base template or another differential template. Assuming a private cloud system already stores a base image, the private cloud system may spawn a VM based on a particular template simply by downloading the appropriate differential templates. This technique reduces the total amount of data that needs to be downloaded from the public cloud system in order to spawn a particular VM.

  • Publication number: 20190292872
Abstract: A computing device can determine the integrity of a blowout preventer in a well system using a model generated from real-time sensor data. For example, the computing device can receive predetermined values associated with how pressure decays or otherwise changes in a pressurization subsystem overtime. The pressurization subsystem can be for pressurizing the blowout preventer. The computing device can also receive, from a pressure sensor, real-time pressure measurements indicating pressures in the pressurization subsystem. The computing device can generate the model based on the predetermined values and the pressure measurements. The computing device can use the model to predict the pressure in the pressurization subsystem during a future period of time. The computing device can analyze aspects of the predicted pressure in the pressurization subsystem over the future period of time to determine if the blowout preventer is functioning properly.

Abstract: A surface wettability measurement method for determining the surface wettability of a surface for operations that require the removal of oil-based fluid such as cementing operations in an oil/gas environment.
