  • Patent number: 7484734
Abstract: A shaft sealing assembly for static and dynamic axial sealing of a centrally located rotating and movable shaft is provided. The assembly includes at least one first sealing member for sealing said shaft, at least one rotor member-attached to said shaft, and a stator member attached to a housing. A first sealing member is arranged in a recess in said rotor member effectively sealing one side of the assembly from its other side when a pressure difference exists between the media on the two sides of the assembly. Upon rotation of the shaft, the static sealing member is centrifugally moved axially and radially away from its static sealing position and friction between the sealing member and the stator is eliminated. Dynamic sealing is affected by a pressure difference caused by a turbine effect of the rotor member.

  • Patent number: 7125019
Abstract: The invention relates to a single seal, and more specifically to a seal for a rotary shaft extending through a wall, e.g. that of a pump housing. The single seal exhibits one single sealing location between a stationary and a rotating sealing ring. The seal is attached by means of a flange (12) on to the wall in order to seal off a chamber inside the wall against the shaft (22) and towards the exterior. According to the invention, the sealing rings (1, 2) are biased against each other by means of an axially movable member (5) extending through the wall in order to increase the contact between the sealing rings (1, 2). The resilient member may be a slitted sleeve (5) or a coil spring.

  • Patent number: 6695315
Abstract: The invention relates to a single seal, and more specifically to a seal for a rotary shaft extending through a wall, e.g. that of a pump housing. The single seal exhibits one single sealing location between a fixed and a rotary sealing ring. The seal is fitted onto the wall by means of a flange in order to seal off a chamber inside the wall against the shaft and towards the exterior. According to the invention, the single seal exhibits an outer sealing ring (1) and an inner sealing ring (2). These sealing rings are in sliding and sealing contact with each other. The outer sealing ring (1) is fastened to the flange (12) and the inner sealing ring (2) is fastened to an axially displaceable sleeve (8). The sleeve is in turn affixed to and rotating with the shaft (22), and extends through the wall and the flange (12). The seal also has a spring device (5) arranged outside the wall and providing a force for increasing the contact between the sealing rings (1, 2).

  • Patent number: 5462289
Abstract: A hygienic sealing arrangement for a leadthrough shaft passing through a cover (4) for use in the food industry or the like in which an outer seal ring (1) and an inner seal ring (2) are bonded to the cover (4) by vulcanization. Upon assembly, the side of the outer seal ring (1) facing the medium to be sealed off is somewhat compressed because its contact surfaces (6, 7) in the cover (4) and the adjoining wall (5), respectively, converge toward the medium side. The inner seal ring is in the form of a lip seal (2) and bears against a part (3) of the lead-through shaft which part (3) can move somewhat back and forth but which does not rotate. The side face of the lip seal (2) is exposed to the medium being sealed off of arcuate curvature to form a recess so that the edge of the lip is pressed against the abutting surface by the pressure (P) of the product in the recess.

  • Patent number: 5351972
Abstract: The present invention consists of a shaft packing with an inner seal (4) and an outer seal (2) which are biased by means of springs (5) and an intermediate ring (1). The spring package and the major part of the shaft packing are positioned on the outside of a wall (20) of a container or the like, on the inside of which container an aggressive medium may be found. On the inside of the wall and in contact with the medium there are only a counter ring (4'), the inner seal (4), the intermediate ring (1) and a mounting (14). All these parts have smooth surfaces without grooves, notches or the like in order to avoid that the possibly aggressive medium accumulates on the shaft packing. The shaft (19) is journalled in the wall (20) by the mounting (14), and the contact surfaces (22) between the mounting (14) and the wall (20) have arcuate cross-sections.
