  • Patent number: 11858343
Abstract: A lubricant supported electric motor assembly includes an electric motor module, a shifting and first stage module, and a final drive module sequentially operably interconnected with one another for producing drive torque that is ultimately conducted to a wheel of a vehicle. The electric motor module includes a stator and a rotor defining an internal rotor cavity. The shifting and first stage module is disposed within the internal rotor cavity and includes a first planetary gear reducer assembly and an output gear selectively coupleable to said first planetary gear reducer assembly. The final drive module is disposed adjacent the shifting and first stage module and includes a second planetary gear reducer assembly operably coupled with the output gear. A shifting mechanism establishes selective coupling between the first planetary gear assembly and the output gear to transfer adjustable torque from the shifting and first stage module to the final drive device.

  • Patent number: 11855499
Abstract: A voltage balanced winding for a stator of an electric machine with a high number of pole pairs is distributed over several circumferential sections and several radial layers of the stator. The winding consists of at least two phases and each phase of the winding comprises a plurality of conductor segments, one conductor segment for each layer in each sector. Each of the conductor segments comprises a plurality of straight conductor portions arranged in an axial direction of the stator and a plurality of end-windings connecting the straight conductor portions to a wave pattern. The voltage balanced winding is characterized in that the plurality of conductor segments is divided into branches of series connected conductor segments, wherein each branch includes at least D conductor segments selected from D different sections d and D different layers j such that (j+d) mod D equals a predefined number, with D being the number of circumferential sections.

  • Publication number: 20230134353
Abstract: A quality diagnostics system for lubricant/coolant fluid includes a lubricant supported electric motor including a stator and a rotor defining a gap therebetween, with the lubricant/coolant fluid disposed in the gap for supporting the rotor while allowing the rotor to rotate relative to the stator. An inverter includes a plurality of power switches configured to supply an alternating current (AC) power to the motor for driving the rotor to rotate. A passageway conveys the lubricant/coolant fluid between the motor and the inverter. A lubricant quality sensor includes a set of sensor plates disposed along the passageway, an excitation source configured to apply an AC excitation voltage to a first sensor plate, and an electrical sensor configured to measure a response to the AC excitation voltage. A controller determines, based on a sensor signal from the electrical sensor, at least one of metal contamination and water contamination in the lubricant/coolant fluid.

  • Publication number: 20230140795
Abstract: A common lubrication and cooling system includes a lubricant-supported electric motor including a stator and a rotor defining a gap therebetween, with a liquid coolant disposed in the gap for supporting the rotor while allowing the rotor to rotate relative to the stator. The common lubrication and cooling system also includes a liquid-cooled inverter. The liquid-cooled inverter includes a plurality of switch devices configured to supply an alternating current (AC) power to the lubricant-supported electric motor for driving the rotor to rotate. The liquid-cooled inverter also includes a first heatsink mechanically connected to the plurality of switch devices. The liquid-cooled inverter also includes an inverter passageway configured transmit the liquid coolant between the lubricant-supported electric motor and into fluid communication with the first heatsink for transmitting heat away from the first heatsink.

  • Publication number: 20210295615
Abstract: The system for a secure and verifiable measurement and data logging of electric vehicle energy balance, wherein vehicle energy balance status supervision provides basis for pre-payment accounting, energy charging allowances, excise taxation, and infrastructure investment payback schemes using predetermined intervals and micro-payment transactions using smart contracts. The system comprises a measurement and data logging device onboard a vehicle, and a decentralized and cryptographically safe database, using a method of transferring blockchain encoded multi-leveled information based on said logged data for mathematical algorithms to calculate and autonomously execute contract fund transactions like excise tax, car rental service payment, vehicle roaming, and grant greater supervision and control over fleet management and vehicle manufacturer warranty limits for example.
