  • Publication number: 20050156516
Abstract: This invention discloses a class of soluble poly(arylene-oxadiazole) polymers and copolymers comprising at least 20 repeat units, which may be the same or different, represented by the formula: wherein Arom can be a fluorene group, an aromatic hydrocarbon ring, an aromatic C2+ heterocyclic ring, or two aromatic rings linked by a single bond, ethenyl bond, or ethynyl bond. A process for preparing the polymers and copolymers by reacting dicarboxylic acids and hydrazine salt is provided. The polymers are useful in electroluminescent devices, photovoltaic cells, and diodes.

  • Publication number: 20050100658
Abstract: Organic electronic devices may include an organic electronic component having a first organic layer including guest material(s). One or more liquid compositions may be placed over a substantially solid first organic layer. Each liquid composition can include guest material(s) and liquid medium (media). The liquid medium (media) may interact with the first organic layer to form a solution, dispersion, emulsion, or suspension. Most, if not all, of the guest material(s) can migrate into the organic layer to locally change the electronic or electro-radiative characteristics of a region within the organic layer. A second organic layer may be vapor deposited over at least part of the first organic layer. The second organic layer includes at least one organic material capable of emitting blue light.

  • Publication number: 20050100657
Abstract: Organic electronic devices may include an organic electronic component having an organic layer including guest material(s). One or more liquid compositions may be placed over a substantially solid organic layer. Each liquid composition can include guest material(s) and liquid medium (media). The liquid medium (media) may interact with the organic layer to form a solution, dispersion, emulsion, or suspension. The viscosity of the resulting solution, dispersion, emulsion, or suspension can be higher than the liquid composition to keep lateral migration of the guest material to a relatively low level. Still, most, if not all, the guest material(s) can migrate into the organic layer to locally change the electronic or electro-radiative characteristics of a region within the organic layer, with less than one order of magnitude difference in guest material concentration throughout the thickness of the organic layer. The process can be used for organic active layers, filter layers, and combinations thereof.

  • Publication number: 20040094768
Abstract: The invention provides methods for the production of full-color, subpixellated organic electroluminescent (EL) devices. Substrates used in the methods of the invention for production of EL devices comprise wells wherein the walls of the wells do not require surface treatment prior to deposition of electroluminescent material. Also provided are EL devices produced by the methods described herein.
