  • Patent number: 4627782
Abstract: A container for storing and transporting grains having rigid side and end walls defining a generally rectangular or square cross-sectional shape, wherein the bottom corner is truncated to form a generally flat supporting base which is formed by a pair of hopper doors which provide the base panel when closed, but can be opened to discharge the contents from the container having a covered filler opening in the top, the container being provided with perforated drying tubes extending therewithin and a wheeled transport unit for receiving the container thereon and tilting the container into position where one of the hopper sides forms the bottom during transportation and permitting the container to be readily moved from one location to another.

  • Patent number: 4352379
Abstract: A method for supporting the tubes adjacent to a leaky tube to be sealed by explosive activated plugs, and including removable support plugs inserted into the ends of the adjacent tubes to provide the required tube wall and tube sheet support during detonation of the explosive activated plugs, with the support plugs being removed after the leaky tube is sealed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 20, 1981
Date of Patent: October 5, 1982
Assignee: The Babcock & Wilcox Company
    Inventor: Gordon C. Larson
  • Patent number: 4319960
Abstract: A modular nuclear fuel assembly rack constructed of an array of identical cells, each cell constructed of a plurality of identical flanged plates. The unique assembly of the plates into a rigid rack provides a cellular compartment for nuclear fuel assemblies and a cavity between the cells for accepting neutron absorbing materials thus allowing a closely spaced array. The modular rack size can be easily adapted to conform with available storage space.

  • Patent number: 4158370
Abstract: An explosive activated tube plug for effecting a mechanical seal within a tube is disclosed. The plug includes an internally tapered expansion sleeve, a frusto-conical piston disposed within the sleeve and an extension member to expedite plug placement. By remotely detonating an explosive disposed within the plug, the piston is driven forward to expand the sleeve against the surrounding tube surface. By modifying the physical structure of the plug, the energy-displacement relationship between the piston and sleeve may be selectively controlled.
