Patent number: 10902397Abstract: A method and system provide interoperable electronic financial services using mobile communications devices and without the need for traditional banking systems like plastic cards, POS machines, branches and ATMs. A consumer can deposit and/or withdraw money from his account using his mobile device and with the help of a local agent without ever stepping inside a branch of a bank where the consumer has an account. The system uses the consumers ID and his mobile number to generate a PAN for the consumer, which is then used to route the transactions. The system uses indicators in the transaction to identify transaction purpose and thus enable appropriate interchange, clearing and settlement between participating entities. The system provides real-time feedback on the transactions and reduces costs by enabling an agent to service consumers of multiple banks and payment service providers.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2019Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: VISA INTERNATIONAL SERVICE ASSOCIATIONInventors: Ashish Kulpati, Joseph Gordon Cooper, Ginger Baker

Patent number: 8386389Abstract: Service delivery systems and methods are described. In one aspect, a service delivery system includes a set of tokens, a database, multiple terminals, and a service manager. Each of the tokens includes a respective token identifier. The database stores personal user profiles each of which is associated with a respective token identifier. The terminals are distributed about a selected locale. Each terminal has a reader that is operable to read token identifiers from tokens and a controller that is operable to transmit read token identifiers and context data identifying one or more conditions under which a token identifier is read through a network connection each time a token identifier is read. The service manager is connected to each of the terminals through a respective network connection and to the database.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2002Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Wesley Chan, Ruth Rosenberg, Venkatesh Gururaja Rao, Glenn Clifford Steiner, James E. Publication number: 20110270744Abstract: A mobile tangible value banking system is disclosed. A mobile tangible value banking system enables a consumer entity to make a withdrawal from or deposit to their bank account by physically exchanging tangible value with a banking agent and correspondingly verifying the deposit or withdrawal using a mobile device. The consumer entity and the banking agent may be mobile and free to meet in a predetermined location, which may allow banking services to enter remote areas of emerging markets.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2011Publication date: November 3, 2011Inventors: Ginger Baker, In-Tchang Kim, Ashish Kulpati, Rachel Bale, Joseph Gordon Cooper, Sachin Bountra, Bharatkumar Patel

Publication number: 20090070317Abstract: This invention relates to providing automated support for the analysis of patents, patent applications and other texts, and more specifically, for supporting the analysis of claims in view of specifications, and for supporting claim analysis as compared to published texts that might constitute possible prior art or infringement of the patent. Patent prosecution requires that the inventor, patent attorney, or patent agent carefully construct claims and specifications that delineate the invention according to well known principles of law. Patent licensing requires that documents describing products, services or methods which might infringe or invalidate a patent be organized in a clear style that can be presented to potential licensees. Patent litigation requires the analysis of patent claims against supporting statements in the patent specification, and against published technical literature which may or may not constitute prior art to the patent under analysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2007Publication date: March 12, 2009Inventor: Richard Gordon Cooper

Publication number: 20070261255Abstract: A package measurement apparatus comprising three measurement devices, one for each dimension. Each measurement device comprises a plurality of signal receptor modules. Each module comprises a row of signal receptor, and a signal energy source. In a first calibration step, the outputs of each receptor are standardized to reference maximums and minimums. In a second calibration step, calibration sets of receptor outputs are created and recorded. During measurement, a measurement set of receptor outputs is obtained and matched with a calibration set of receptor outputs to determine the dimension of an object.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2006Publication date: November 15, 2007Inventors: Richard Cooper, Gordon Cooper, Todd Teal, Lorne Hull

Patent number: 7113920Abstract: An intranet based comprehensive ordering system that allows authorized employees to simultaneously search many different vendor's catalogs that are stored in a server on a company's intranet. The present Electronic Stockroom and Catalog (ESAC) allows vendors to download their catalogs to the system for storage, browsing and possible purchase by authorized employees. ESAC also allows vendors to update catalogs that may already be in the system. ESAC stores the catalogs and provides the employee with the ability to easily search all of the vendors catalogs for desired items. Thus, employees have access to a wide variety of items. The present system is an attempt at providing the company with one-stop-shopping for every item that every employee will ever need in the course of their employment. If the desired item is available on-site i.e., in one of the stockrooms of the company, then ESAC informs the employee and provides location information relating to the desired item.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2000Date of Patent: September 26, 2006Assignee: Jefferson Science Associates, LLCInventors: William Russell Brisiel, Eric Gordon Cooper, Mark Edward Davis

Publication number: 20060020476Abstract: A billing system for determining package transportation charges. The billing system includes a reader to read a package identifier associated with said package and the reader generates a package identifier signal and transmits the same to a microprocessor. The billing system also includes a package sizer having a plurality of non-contact optical sensors located along each of an x, y and z axis, where each optical sensor is in a known position. The sensors are oriented relative to the conveyor so that packages passing over the sensors are detected by the sensors and produce a signal correlated to said package size. Also provided is a microprocessor to receive and correlate said package size and identifier signals, and to determine an appropriate shipping charge based upon the same. A weigh scale may also be incorporated into the system. A method of determining a transportation charge is also comprehended, which includes a selfdiagnostic initialization procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 30, 2003Publication date: January 26, 2006Inventors: Gordon Cooper, Todd Teal, Richard Cooper

Patent number: 4932979Abstract: A high performance methanol fuel is described. In the present invention, the methanol fuel is formulated with approximately 3-15% high purity water, resulting in an aqueous fuel whose properties are independent of subsequent condensation of water from the environment. A low concentration dye, in the range of 0.0005 to 0.0020 weight percent, is utilized to impart color to the liquid fuel. In the preferred embodiment, arazine yellow, manufactured by Chem Serv is utilized, and has no noticable effect on fuel properties. A low concentration of alkali metal salts, such as sodium or lithium carbonate, or a low concentration of alkaline earth salts such as calcium or strontium acetate, in the range of 0.0005 to 0.001 weight percent is utilized as a flame colorant. Improved lubricity of the methanol fuel of the present invention is achieved by utilizing a flourosurfactant of about 0.05 percent by weight. In the preferred embodiment, ZONYL manufactured by DUPONT, is utilized.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1989Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Assignee: XL, Inc.Inventors: Dale A.
