  • Patent number: 8550010
Abstract: A wagon has two side walls, two end walls and a base. At least a portion of one or each side wall has two side wall parts in the form of panels. Each panel has a respective constant wall thickness and is joined together. In some embodiments, the panels can be integrally formed. The side wall panels are also each of a different material thickness. A bridging member in the form of an angled bracket is arranged to interconnect the respective side wall panels by being separately connected to each side wall panel.

  • Patent number: 8297200
Abstract: An axlebox retainer key (50) is disclosed for fitting to a pedestal leg (24) of a sideframe of a rail wagon bogie. The key (50) comprises a body which has a basal projection (52) which extends in use into a cavity or hole (42) which is formed in the pedestal leg (24). The key (50) also has an upper surface recess (60) which is arranged to receive a locking pin (66) which can be axially inserted to maintain the key (50) at the pedestal leg (24). The locking pin (66) is also inserted via the pedestal leg side wall (30) which incorporates a through-hole (82) through which the locking pin (66) is passed. To install the key (50), an operator first positions the basal projection (52) of the key (50) in the cavity or a hole (42) that is formed in the pedestal leg (24), and then moves the locking pin 66 across the key (50) via the through-hole (82) in the side wall (30) so as to secure the key (50) to the pedestal (24).

Abstract: A bulk material transport container in the form of a railway wagon 10 is disclosed. The wagon 10 comprises two side walls 24, two end walls 25 and a base 29. At least a portion of one or each side wall 24 comprises two side wall parts in the form of panels 26, 28, each panel 26, 28 having a respective constant wall thickness and being joined together. In some embodiments, the panels 26, 28 can be integrally formed. The side wall panels 26, 28 are also each of a different material thickness. A bridging member in the form of an angled bracket 36 is arranged to interconnect the respective side wall panels 26, 28 by being separately connected to each side wall panel 26, 28.

  • Patent number: 7261043
Abstract: An articulated railway bogie connector 10 is shown comprising a male connector component 12 and a female connector component 14. The articulated connector 10 is adapted to pivotally mount to a bolster 54 of a railway bogie 50. The male and female connector components 12, 14 are arranged to be welded to a skeletal body of adjacent railway wagons. The male and female connector components 12, 14 each include a pair of constant contact sidebearer outrigger brackets and associated wear plates located. The outrigger brackets such as 16A/B are in the form of a pair of wing members cast integral with and extending laterally of the male connector component 12. However the wing members such as 16A/B may be welded or otherwise formed integral with, in this instance, the male connector component 12. The outrigger brackets or wing members 16A/B and 18A/B are adapted for fixing of a wear plate which is arranged in use to contact corresponding constant contact sidebearers mounted to the articulated bogie 50.

  • Patent number: 7025002
Abstract: A bolster 14 for a bogie of an articulated railway wagon is shown including supports for constant contact sidebearers in the form of two pairs of brackets such as 26A and 26B being integral with the bolster 14 at its opposing respective ends. The brackets such as 26A are each adapted for fixing of the constant contact sidebearers which in turn are arranged to contact a corresponding wear plate mounted to an articulated connector 50. In a preferred example the corresponding wear plates are mounted to corresponding brackets 52A, 52B which are cast integral with respective male or female articulated connector components 54 or 56. Each bracket 26A/B extends laterally from the bolster 14 and, when viewed in plan, each bracket 26A/B has a longitudinal axis of symmetry which is orthogonal to a radius from a central rotational point of the articulated connector 50 of the railway wagon.
