Publication number: 20180374153Abstract: An automated trading exchange having integrated quote risk monitoring and quote modification services. An apparatus is implemented using at least one computer, having memory, and a processor. The computer is configured to receive orders and quotes, wherein specified ones of the quotes are contained in a quote group, and have associated trading parameters such as a risk threshold. Not all received quotes are required to have trading parameters as described herein. Preferably, the quote group contains all the quotes, or a subset of quotes, belonging to an individual market-maker for a given class of options contracts, or possibly the quotes of two or more market-makers that have identified themselves as belonging to a group for the purposes of risk monitoring and quote modification. The computer typically generates a trade by matching the received orders and quotes to previously received orders and quotes, and otherwise stores each of the received orders and quotes if a trade is not generated.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2018Publication date: December 27, 2018Applicant: Cboe Exchange, Inc.Inventors: Ross G. Patent number: 9727916Abstract: An automated trading exchange having integrated quote risk monitoring and quote modification services is disclosed. The automated trading exchange is configured to receive orders and quotes, and have associated trading parameters such as a risk threshold. The automated trading exchange typically generates a trade by matching the received orders and quotes, where quotes belong to an overall quote group, to previously received orders and quotes. The automated trading exchange otherwise stores each of the received orders and quotes if a trade is not generated. The automated trading exchange then determines whether a quote has been filled as a result of the generated trade, and if so, determines a risk level and an aggregate risk level associated with said trade. The computer compares the aggregate risk level with the market-maker's risk threshold, and if the threshold is exceeded, automatically modifies at least one of the remaining quotes in the quote group.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2013Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Assignee: Chicago Board Options Exchange, IncorporatedInventors: Anthony Montesano, Ross G. Publication number: 20130151389Abstract: An automated trading exchange having integrated quote risk monitoring and quote modification services. An apparatus is implemented using at least one computer configured to receive orders and quotes, wherein specified ones of the quotes are contained in a quote group, and have associated trading parameters such as a risk threshold. The computer generates a trade by matching received orders and quotes to previously received orders and quotes, and then determines whether a quote within the quote group has been filled as a result of the generated trade, and if so, determines a risk level and an aggregate risk level associated with said trade. The computer then compares the aggregate risk level with the market-maker's risk threshold, and if the threshold is exceeded, automatically modifies at least one of the remaining quotes in the quote group. The computer may also automatically regenerate quotes that have been filled.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2012Publication date: June 13, 2013Inventors: Ross G. Kaminsky, Richard A. Patent number: 7921055Abstract: A method of opening option trading in an automated exchange trading system. The system receives orders and quotes and matches the orders and quotes to generate trades. The method includes the step of accepting, during a first time period, quotes and orders associated with an option class. The first time period precedes the opening of trading. An opening value of an underlying security is received and opening prices for a number of option series in the option class are determined. Additional quotes and orders are received during a second time period and the opening prices are responsively updated. The second time period is terminated at a randomly selected time and opening rotations begin.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2007Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: Chicago Board Options Exchange IncorporatedInventors: Ross G.
