    Abstract: A planing and trolling device for use with a boat includes a mounting frame adapted to be attached to the boat. A deflector plate is pivotally mounted to the mounting frame and is pivotal downwardly to a deflecting position facing the rear of the boat propeller. A spring engages the deflector plate and yieldably permits movement of the deflector plate to a horizontal position as the rotational velocity of the propeller increases.
