  • Patent number: 7004548
Abstract: A dump truck system comprising a vehicle and a trailer assembly. The vehicle comprises a vehicle bed having a gate assembly movable between open and closed positions. The trailer assembly comprises a trailer frame assembly and a trailer bed. The trailer frame assembly is operable in a selected one of a rail configuration and a notch configuration. The trailer bed is adapted to be supported by the trailer frame assembly. The trailer assembly is operable in a tow configuration and a transfer configuration. In the tow configuration, the trailer assembly does not engage the vehicle. In the transfer configuration, the trailer assembly engages the vehicle to allow the trailer bed to move from the trailer assembly to the vehicle bed. When the trailer frame is in the notch configuration, the trailer assembly may be moved from the tow configuration into the transfer configuration with the gate assembly in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6733085
Abstract: A dump truck system comprising a vehicle, a trailer assembly, and hitch assembly. The trailer assembly comprises a trailer frame assembly. The hitch assembly connects the support member to the vehicle. In one embodiment, the trailer assembly further comprises a support member attached to the trailer frame assembly and a suspension assembly arranged between the support member and the trailer frame assembly. The suspension assembly resiliently opposes transmission of shocks from the trailer frame assembly to the vehicle as the vehicle pulls the trailer assembly. In another embodiment, the vehicle comprises a vehicle bed having a gate assembly movable between open and closed positions, the a trailer frame assembly is operable in a selected one of a rail configuration and a notch configuration, and a trailer bed is adapted to be supported by the trailer frame assembly. The trailer assembly is operable in a tow configuration a transfer configuration.

  • Patent number: 6283554
Abstract: A dump truck system comprising a vehicle, a trailer assembly on which is mounted a trailer bed, a hitch assembly for connecting the trailer assembly to the vehicle, and trailer dump assembly for pivoting the trailer bed relative to the trailer about a dump axis. Optionally, the dump truck system may comprise a tilt assembly for tilting the trailer bed relative to the trailer assembly about a tilt axis, where the tilt axis is substantially perpendicular to the dump axis. The trailer assembly optionally comprises a trailer frame assembly, a tube member pivotally connected to the trailer frame assembly, and a suspension assembly arranged between the tube assembly and the trailer frame assembly to resiliently oppose transmission of shocks from the trailer frame assembly to the vehicle. The trailer assembly optionally comprises a trailer frame assembly, a support tube member attached to the trailer frame assembly, a slide tube member that extends through and is supported by the support tube member.

  • Patent number: 5806478
Abstract: A push rod is constructed with a self-contained lash take-up spring and auxiliary oil pumping assembly inserted at an end of the rod body and includes an end part slidably mounted relative to the rod body and a biasing spring that urges the end part axially to extend the push rod length to take up the play of normal lash in a valve actuator of an internal combustion engine. Axial movement of the end part is constrained between a yielding maximum extension of the push rod under spring bias and a non-yielding minimal working rod length in which the end part movement is stopped against an end of the rod body for pushing open the engine valve in reaction to cam and tappet movements. Reciprocation of the end piece relative to the rod body causes localized oil pumping action that delivers enhanced oiling through the rod body to the valve actuator parts.

  • Patent number: 5794657
Abstract: The invention concerns a fuel check valve to prevent unintentional siphoning of fuel from a cell should a fuel delivery line by severed. The check valve includes a valve housing having a fluid conduit coupling a first and second orifice. An internal seat is formed in the fluid conduit to receive a needle body having a seat mating portion that is complementary to the internal seat, thereby creating a fluid barrier when brought into compressive contact therewith. Compressive contact is created by a compression spring located intermediate between the valve housing and the needle body. When the check valve is included in a fuel delivery system, a partial vacuum created by a fuel pump downstream from the valve overcomes the spring bias to cause the needle body to unseat, thereby permitting fuel flow.

  • Patent number: 4927085
Abstract: A specialized crusher has an upright compartment sized to receive an individual oil filter resting on a grate at the bottom. A crusher plate above the filter is guided for vertical sliding movement in the compartment and is moved up and down by a hydraulic jack. Downward movement of the crusher plate collapses the oil filter casing to compact condition and oil contained in it passes through the bottom grate into a spout leading to a receptacle. When a desired pressure has been reached, the jack automatically lifts the crusher plate and the collapsed casing can be removed for salvaging. All components of the apparatus are incorporated in a compact cabinet which can have a bottom drawer for the oil receptacle and a bin in which the collapsed casings can be collected.

  • Patent number: 4717472
Abstract: A multi stage oil filter assembly is disclosed characterized by a housing including base and cover members and at least one intermediate member arranged between the base and cover members. A first planar filter member is arranged between the cover and intermediate members and a second planar filter member is arranged between the intermediate and base members. The planar faces of the base and cover members adjacent the intermediate member each contain a plurality of concentrically spaced circular grooves and a radial conduit affording communication between the grooves, whereby fluid is distributed across the planar faces of the base and cover members adjacent the planar filter members. The intermediate member contains a plurality of segmented circular concentrically spaced slots corresponding with the grooves of the base and cover member planar faces.

  • Patent number: 4446017
Abstract: An oil filter assembly is disclosed, characterized by a sectional housing and a removable filter member arranged therein. The housing includes base and cover members having adjacent planar faces which contain a plurality of corresponding, circular, concentrically spaced grooves which define a plurality of ribs. A radial groove in the face of each member extends through each of the associated ribs to afford communication between the associated grooves. The radial grooves of the housing members extend diametrically radially outwardly in opposite directions and the housing contains inlet and outlet openings communicating with the radial grooves, respectively. The filter member has a planar configuration, is removably mounted between the base and cover members, and extends between the circular grooves contained in the base and cover members on opposite sides of the filter.

  • Patent number: 3965812
Abstract: This invention is directed to an apparatus and method wherein relatively large bulky pieces of scrap metal can be, substantially, simultaneously, divided or separated into smaller pieces of scrap metal and then compressed into smaller and more dense units of scrap metal. In compressing the bulky scrap metal into smaller and more dense units of scrap metal, the grade and quality of the scrap metal is increased so as to be more, economically, valuable.
