Patent number: 8267278Abstract: The container includes a base and a detachable cover. To releasably attach the base and cover, the base includes a first closure portion and the cover includes an engagable second closure portion. In one aspect, the first and second closure portions are configured for engagement in both a fully engaged position and an intermediately engaged position. In the intermediately engaged position, the container can be further configured to vent steam during, for example, microwaving. In another aspect, the container including the first and second closure portions can be configured for simplified engagement of the base and cover, preferably by enabling engagement via a downward push applied to the center of the cover. In yet another aspect, the first and second closure portions can be configured with diverging flanges that simplify detachment of the base and cover.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2010Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: The Glad Products CompanyInventors: Edward B. Tucker, Anand Ramanujam, Lawrence John Racana, Ares Marasligiller, Jason Phillips, Yashodhan Dhuru, Gordon D. Thomas, Scott Zieker

Patent number: 6260601Abstract: A coiling door particularly useful for high wind load conditions includes roller assemblies which are captured in guides along lateral side edges of the door to minimize the drag and friction of the door during operation. As such, the coiling door is operable even under high wind load conditions for movement to and between closed positions because of the roller arrangement coupling the lateral side edges of the door to guides mounted along the sides of the door opening.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1999Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Assignee: Clopay Building Products R&D Company, Inc.Inventor: Gordon D. Thomas

Patent number: 6123134Abstract: A mechanism for regulating the closing speed of a rolling fire door during an emergency condition. The speed regulating mechanism includes a viscous speed governor which is operatively connected to the support shaft of the fire door for providing a speed regulating damping torque as the door moves to a closed position. Methods for regulating the closing speed of a fire door during an emergency condition are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1999Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: Clopay Building Products Company, Inc.Inventors: Gordon D. Patent number: 4001472Abstract: In a process for forming a nonwoven reinforced cellulosic material, for use in applications such as wipes and disposable clothing, which comprises applying adhesive to a ply of nonwoven scrim, bringing at least one cellulosic ply into contact with the scrim to form a substantially unbonded laminate, the improvement comprising applying pressure to discrete regions of said substantially unbonded laminate while said adhesive is in an activated condition. The application of pressure to discrete regions achieves ply attachment at only intermittent points on the scrim and can also serve to provide an embossed laminate texture. The product so formed is strong and has desirable absorbency, texture, bulk, hand and limpness.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1974Date of Patent: January 4, 1977Assignee: Kimberly-Clark CorporationInventors: Gordon D. Thomas, Jerome L. Schwoerer

Patent number: 3961119Abstract: Absorbent paper sheets in multi-ply web form in which the outer webs of the sheet are creped and consist of a series of ribs and grooves. The webs have their ribs secured together by adhesive dispersed in a pattern consisting of individual adhesive zones. The adhesive zones are obtained by providing in embossing apparatus cooperable rolls each having alternating ribs and grooves, the ribs of one roll being provided with protuberances and the other with recesses. The protuberances cover a relatively small area of the total rib area and carry a web on the protuberances through an adhesive applicator so that a relatively small area of the web receives adhesive for attachment to a second web.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1974Date of Patent: June 1, 1976Assignee: Kimberly-Clark CorporationInventor: Gordon D.
