  • Patent number: 6146097
Abstract: A fan blade assembly for a ceiling fan has lightweight, oversized blades formed by a support frame with a blade covering material stretched over the frame. A lighting fixture attached to the support frame rotates with the fan blades. The fan blades are contoured to provide airfoil characteristics having an optimal compromise to maximize air circulation when rotating in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction. In a ceiling fan, the fan blade assembly can be used singluarly or used in combination with conventional fan blades on the ceiling fan.

  • Patent number: 5220685
Abstract: The mute and automatic restore device is an apparatus for communication receivers and the like, whereby voice or code conversations or messages emanating from the monitoring speaker can be muted by the push of a button and the apparatus will determine the end of the conversation or message by sensing a preset time delay, and will then automatically restore audio output, or provide for the output to be manually restored by the pushing of a second button. The apparatus can be built into a receiver, provided as a kit to be spliced into the receiver speaker wires, or built as an accessory with a speaker and case that can simply be plugged into the speaker jack of a receiver.

  • Patent number: 5134597
Abstract: An animated kinetic sculpture device in the form of a pedestal for support of another kinetic sculpture or other object, or as a stand alone advertising piece. The device comprises a supporting structure, a motor driven upright cylindrical helical coil spring rotatably mounted to the supporting structure, a sliding and pivoting post adjacent to and generally parallel to the coil spring, an object, optionally in the form of a figure of a human, bushed to the sliding post, a lifter follower also bushed to the sliding post such that it can also pivot, the follower especially conformed to engage the rotating coil spring and to bear mainly on that side of the coil spring that will pull it into engagement, such that the follower and the object will be carried up the coil spring along the sliding post. An ejection piece at the top of the coil spring is provided to pivot the follower out of engagement so the object and follower may slide back down by gravity.

  • Patent number: 4939859
Abstract: A kinetic sculpture apparatus comprising a transparent tank filled with a transparent liquid and an air supply system wherein air bubbles are introduced along the bottom of the container and thus are distributed thorughout the liquid. Immersed in the liquid are a multiple of vessels that are substantially closed on their sides and top, and substantially open on their bottom. The vessels are weighted so that they have a negative buoyancy when holding a small amount of air but will become positively buoyant when they accumulate more air from the rising air bubbles. The vessels are also weighted so that their center of gravity remains below their center of buoyancy even when in a full positive state. The apparatus comprises techniques for releasing the air from the vessels at the top of their rise so that will sink back towards the bottom until they collect more air and rise again.

  • Patent number: 4421421
Abstract: A time keeping clock that includes a kinetic clock sculpture arrangement in which the clock comprises the usual minute and hour hands journalled for rotation in clockwise directions about a common axis, and a time keeping mechanism for driving said minute and hour hands to keep time, with the clock including a kinetic sculpture arrangement comprising a relatively large, medially located, kinetic sculpture drive gear wheel that is vertically disposed and has its axis of rotation disposed horizontally and paralleling that of the common axis of the clock minute and hour hands, one or more driven gear wheels that are of a diameter which is relatively small as compared to that of the drive wheel gear, and which are disposed in coupled rotation to the drive gear wheel at spaced locations thereabout, with several of said driven gear wheels each driving a separate crank about a horizontal axis, and a drive gear wheel actuated mechanical linkage of miniature stick figure form articulated to each of the said cranks, wi

  • Patent number: 4009534
Abstract: A kinetic sculpture having a generally tubular motion imparting device rotatably mounted on a base structure. The tubular device includes a substantially open, generally irregular top and is rotated by a motor mounted on the base structure about its major longitudinal axis. An object such as a figure toy or the like is releasably rotatably connected to the tubular device and upstands generally upwardly therefrom. The releasable connection includes a spring biased member which rotates with the tubular device through a predetermined arc of revolution from where it is returned to its initial position by a biasing spring. The biasing spring is mounted on the base in engagement with an offset arm extending generally radially from the rotational axis of the object to constantly urge the object in a direction of rotation opposite the rotation of the drive tube.
