  • Patent number: 5788561
Abstract: A handheld and readily maneuverable apparatus for grinding floor surfaces and/or cutting grooves in a floor formed of a hard material such as concrete, stone or the like is disclosed. The apparatus includes an elongated tube having a motor mounted at its upper end and a special rotatable abrasive head at its lower end. Rotation of the motor is coupled to the rotatable abrasive head via a flexible shaft that extends longitudinally through the elongated tube. In one form of the invention, the abrasive head includes a grinding disk that is oriented generally horizontally relative to the floor when the apparatus is in its operating orientation, and the operator can manually maneuver the apparatus so as to grind the floor surface.

  • Patent number: 5683143
Abstract: An improved abrasive floor treatment apparatus that can be used to effectively treat a variety of floor surfaces, including floor surfaces that are uneven. The apparatus includes a plurality of special abrasive block assemblies that are mounted on the underside of one or more rotatable disks, with each such assembly including a mounting block that releasably retains a plurality of spring-biased abrader assemblies. Multiple configurations for these abrader assemblies are provided, each adapted for use in providing a different kind of surface treatment, and these abrader assemblies are easily and conveniently installed in the mounting block.

  • Patent number: 4533112
Abstract: A curb stake for use in securing a concrete form in a prescribed location, the curb stake including an elongated shaft and integral support structure that cooperate to resist both outward displacement and outward pivoting of the concrete form when concrete is poured on its opposite or inward side. The support structure includes a generally horizontal member that abuts the ground when the shaft has been driven a predetermined distance into the ground, along with a spike that projects into the ground at a location spaced from the shaft. The support structure further provides an impact surface for convenient use in driving the stake into the ground, to a depth below that of the top edge of the concrete form, along with an opening for convenient use in extracting the stake from the ground after the poured concrete has been finished and set.
