    Abstract: There is disclosed a process and apparatus for the at least substantial prevention of hardening of paint brushes and the like which harden by an oxidation/polymerisation mechanism. The paint brush, or the paint applying portion thereof, is suspended within a housing, the housing being provided with a cover. The housing contains therein, or is supplied therewith, an effective amount of at least one antioxidant or a composition containing at least one antioxidant, the vapour of which is effective in at least substantially preventing the stated hardening of the paint on said paint brush.
