  • Patent number: 6575046
Abstract: A flow measuring device for use with a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system includes a vane being positionable in an airstream, the vane being rotatably positionable between a first minimum air mass flow disposition and a second maximum air mass flow disposition, the vane being biased in the first minimum air mass flow disposition, the disposition of the vane being responsive in part to an impingement of an air mass flow on the vane. A measuring device is operably coupled to the vane for measuring the disposition of the vane and for providing an output communication of the vane disposition, the vane disposition having a known relationship to the air mass flow. A method of use of the flow measuring device and calibration of the flow measuring device are included.

  • Patent number: 6206687
Abstract: A gas burner and method of controlling burning, the gas burner including a controller disposed in a control cabinet, a burner cabinet, an actuator and a blower, the blower being fluidly coupled to the burner cabinet. The gas burner has an air valve that is operably, fluidly coupled to both the burner cabinet and the blower for controlling the flow of air from the blower to the burner cabinet. A gas valve is fluidly coupled to a source of gas for controlling the flow of gas from the source of gas. An actuator is communicatively coupled to the controller and is linearly coupled to the air valve and the gas valve for simultaneous linear actuation thereof responsive to commands from the controller.

  • Patent number: 4648854
Abstract: A variable speed drive of the type having a fixed pulley, a variable pulley mounted on a motor shaft and a drive belt coupling the two pulleys. The motor is pivotally mounted on a frame. An actuator is provided for pivoting the motor and variable pulley through an arc to vary the distance between the pulleys which changes the pitch diameter of the variable pulley and the drive ratio of the system. The variable pulley has one fixed face and one movable face, and a cam system is provided and positioned for engagement upon arcuate movement of the motor to cause a predetermined amount of lateral movement of the motor and variable pulley to compensate for changes in the drive line of the variable pulley to movement of the movable face thereof. In this manner, the cam system maintains the variable pulley, fixed pulley and drive belt in accurate alignment throughout the entire range of movement of the motor and corresponding range of variation in the drive ratio of the system.

  • Patent number: 4469132
Abstract: A damper assembly for controlling the flow of fluid through a passageway is disclosed. The damper assembly comprises a rectangular frame (22) adapted to be fitted in a passageway. A plurality of damper blades (24) are supported for pivotal motion in the frame (22) about spaced, parallel longitudinal axes (26) between opened and closed position. The blades (24) are operatively interconnected by a linkage mechanism (28) so as to be substantially simultaneously rotated as required. Operative means including a drive shaft (30) suitably attached to one or more of the blades (24) is provided for rotating the blades between opened and closed positions.
