  • Patent number: 8055375
Abstract: A guidance system of an industrial process captures process parameter data that is correlated with a human-machine interface (HMI) in order to learn how an experienced operator selects visualizations of key performance indicators (KPI) in order to take a corrective action to address an abnormal or non-optimal performance condition. Such solution learning can be invoked to recognize onset of another similar occurrence and responding by suggesting visualizations utilized by the experienced operator to diagnose the problem. Analytics can further determine which visualizations provided useful information relative to the problem. In addition, the corrective action can be suggested or automatically implemented.

  • Patent number: 8026933
Abstract: A visualization system that preserves, augments or increases resolution of images within an industrial automation environment is provided. A reference component identifies, determines, or maps level of zooming or panning in connection with an image within an industrial automation environment, the image data located at a first source. A resolution component retrieves image data from a second sources that is different from the first source, the retrieved image data corresponding to specific portions of the image, the resolution component retrieving the image data from the second source as a function of the level of zooming or panning. A visualization component generates a visualization of the image, and receives the retrieved image data from the resolution component to preserve, augment, or enhance resolution of the image as a function of the zooming or panning.

  • Patent number: 7914288
Abstract: Learning activities in an organization are allocated for work apart, work embedded, and work enabled learning types. In work apart learning, employees leave the work itself and learn through traditional classroom or technology enhanced methods. Work embedded learning occurs on the job without interrupting the flow of work. Work embedded learning uses the power of experience and execution with small responsive training modules embedded in the work process. Work enabled learning provides knowledge transfer and comprehension through experiences and interactions within the context of the work place. A business process permits an organization to rework existing learning programs and allocate resources for new programs to optimally address employee learning needs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently improving manufacturing conditions are presented herein. A data collection component can record one or more manufacturing parameters of a product during a manufacture of the product. A historical component can retrieve stored manufacturing information related to the product. In addition, a prediction component can predict, during the manufacture, an outcome associated with the manufacture. The prediction can be based on, at least in part, the recorded manufacturing parameter(s) and the retrieved information. A specification component can determine a desired characteristic state for at least one of the recorded manufacturing parameters, and a suggestion component can recommend, during the manufacture, an adjustment of at least one parameter based on, at least in part, the predicted outcome and the desired characteristic state for the at least one recorded manufacturing parameter(s).

  • Publication number: 20100082292
Abstract: A process context analyzer of an industrial process allows the flexibility of a client to customize process data that is captured, which can allow data capture to encompass a larger hierarchy of an enterprise or lower subset of a hierarchy with a requisite need for customization to match its architecture. Although analytics can be readily accessed for fixed context for which key performance indicators (KPIs) visualizations are defined, an opportunity for addressing abnormal operation or non-optimal performance is addressed by brining enhanced analytics that benefit from recognizing attributes of the flexible context. Thereby, requested calculated tags can be supplied, as well as offering a return on investment increase by pattern recognition of time frame dependent or ambient condition dependent variations in the flexible context.

  • Publication number: 20090288029
Abstract: A method of displaying automation data is provided. First individual data points correlated with individual time points are received from a machine system. The first individual data points are stored in correlation with the individual time points. A user input is received indicating a selected time. The selected time is processed to determine if any of the individual time points are later in time than the selected time. In response to determining that none o the individual time points are later in time than the selected time, a graphical representation of second individual data points from the machine system are displayed. In response to determining that a one of the individual time points is later in time than the selected time, a graphical representation of at least the individual data point correlated with the selected time is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20090222734
Abstract: A Human-Machine Interface (HMI) system provides graphical displays to communication devices. The HMI system processes status data from machine systems to generate display data for the graphical displays. The HMI system receives selection information indicating one of the communication devices and one of the graphical displays. In response, the HMI system retrieves display parameters for the selected communication device and retrieves the display data for the selected graphical display. The HMI system processes the display data and the display parameters to display a first model of the selected communication device rendering the selected graphical display. The HMI system allows the user to modify the graphical display and view a second model of the communication device rendering the modified graphical display.
