The inventive process includes mixing the ingredients at a temperature below 50° C. and the pH below 10.

Abstract: A laundry detergent product produced by a spray-on process and method of laundering clothes is disclosed which relates to the inclusion of one or more wrinkle reducing ingredients in the laundry detergent product. The spray-on process produces a freely flowable powder or granular laundry products that incorporate effective amounts of hydrophilic wrinkle reducing ingredients. The benefits are delivered to the laundered item during the cleaning step and, therefore, reduces the need for further wrinkle reducing steps when the items are taken from the dryer or after hang drying.

Abstract: A sher-thinnig lamellar gel detergent composition, employing non-neutralized fatty acid in a specific amount, depending on the total surfactant level. The weight % ratio of non-neutralized fatty acid to the total surfactant within a specific range, defined by the Gelling Index equation, results in gels with the desired properties. The inventive product offers an advantage of laundry pre-treater and a detergent in a single product.

Abstract: Liquid and/or gel laundry detergent compositions which snap back at the end of dispensing, thus eliminating or minimizing the dripping from the container. Employing a non-neutralized fatty acid to the total surfactant weight % ratio within a specific range, defined by the Snap Index equation, results in liquids and/or gels with the desired snap-back property.

Abstract: Gel detergent compositions which pile-up on a surface, upon dispensing, to minimize the spreading of the gel to a substantially larger area. The gels that can pile up are less messy to use and provide better stain removal, since more detergent is concentrated on the desired area of fabric (e.g., the spot). The composition comprises from about 10% to about 35% of a surfactant, from about 0.1 to about 5% of a non-neutralized fatty acid; from about 50 to about 85% of water; with the total of anionic surfactants selected from soap, linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid, primary and secondary alkyl sulfates being more than 50% of total surfactant level.

Abstract: According to the inventive method of making gels, the main mixture comprising most of the ingredients with the exception of a non-neutralized fatty acid or sulphonic acid, and/or other anionic surfactant acids is mixed, using at least one in-line static mixer, with the gelling post-mix comprising the non-neutralized fatty acid or sulphonic acid, or other anionic surfactant acids. The preferred process includes the mixing of the main mixture and the gelling post-mix just prior to either filling or storing the composition.

The container includes a bottle base, a bottle body which extends upward from the bottle base to a bottle finish, a fitment having a pouring spout and is arranged on the bottle body at an end opposite the base. The fitment has a first pouring opening from which a first liquid is dispensed and a second opening from which a second liquid is dispensed. A diptube is connected to one of the pouring openings projects downward from toward the bottle base. The diptube conveys the liquid on the bottom to a pouring spout while the liquid on top is conveyed to the pouring spout by the other pouring opening.

Abstract: An aqueous liquid laundry detergent composition comprising a detergent surfactant (including anionic), an emulsifier with an HLB value below about 8.5; an oil; and an electrolyte in an amount to provide ionic strength indicator of from about 0.55 to about 6.7. The composition separates, upon standing for at most 24 hours at ambient temperature, into at least two layers, one of which is an emulsion with a continuous aqueous phase. The second layer is preferably a transparent composition.

The pouch includes a tearing notch or a length of weakness, which may comprise a tear tape, permitting manual opening of the pouch prior to tossing the pouch into the washing machine. By tearing open the pouch it is possible to direct liquid or gelled detergent onto clothes for pretreating stains. The remainder of the product, in a second chamber, e.g. liquid, gel or solid, eg, a powder, is retained in the pouch until release during wash. In this respect, it is preferred that at least part of the pouch is a water soluble film to promote release of product during washing in the washing machine and to minimize residue left from the pouch at the conclusion of the wash. The pouch of the invention preferably comprises at least two chambers, one of the chambers being openable by manual tearing along a tearing notch or a line of weakness.

Abstract: A liquid detergent composition comprising at least two layers, with a surfactant, a transition metal inorganic electrolyte, water and optionally other ingredients distributed within the layers. In the inventive compositions at least one of the layers (the bottom electrolyte layer) is colored. Preferred compositions include a dye in the surfactant layer, so that the compositions contain at least two layers, with two distinct colors. Preferred compositions are transparent and are packaged within a transparent container.

The pouch is formed from a flexible material and contains a laundry composition in at least two phases. One of the phases, together with the fold, forms a base upon which the pouch can stand without additional support. The phase that assists in forming the pouch base is a solid. Processes for making the inventive laundry pouch are also disclosed.

A measuring cup to hold product is accessed from the product ingress opening. In accordance with one preferred embodiment, the measuring cup includes only a single opening in its side wall for releasing product from the cup and into the hollow sphere. One or more closures are associated with the dispenser. After travelling through the small hole in the cup, the product is dispensed to the exterior of the hollow ball through the product dispensing openings and thus onto product. The hollow ball is preferably a manually squeezable plastic such as polyurethane. In another embodiment, the cup includes more than the single hole in the cup walls.
