Patent number: 9544260Abstract: A rapid assignment dynamic ownership queue for text message sessions queues incoming text messages destined for a service bureau, at a network server. Simultaneous access is provided to any one text message of the queued incoming text messages to a plurality of operator terminals at the service bureau. Initial ownership of the one text message is assigned as a result of a first acting terminal of the plurality of operator terminals having completed an action in service to the text message, and ownership is re-assigned to a subsequent operator terminal having completed another action in service to the text message after the first acting terminal. A configurable escalation queue may be implemented to assign an escalation code to each queued item, regardless of its position in the queue list, to alter the presentation of the queue item.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2013Date of Patent: January 10, 2017Assignee: Telecommunication Systems, Inc.Inventors: Michael Cuff, Chih Wang, Farhad Kasad, Firdaus Aryana, Gordon J. Patent number: 9467560Abstract: A logic history can be provided for every request or call instance through a distributed computing system that uniquely traces its entire path, end-to-end, in-band within the messaging for the system. The end result is a single true representation of what occurred with no post computational inference. Accordingly, unique logic history codes are not forced across the system. Rather sub-components that are logic history enabled can use codes that have meaning and applicability to itself. Unique logic history codes are not forced across the system, which in practice would be brittle. Rather each sub-component that is logic history enabled can use codes that have meaning and applicability only to itself. This allows the system to be flexible and lets sub-components change and redefine their logic and logic history traces without impacting the rest of the system.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2015Date of Patent: October 11, 2016Assignee: Telecommunication Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gerhard Geldenbott, Gordon J. Publication number: 20160007180Abstract: A protocol converter or translator between ANSI-41 ORREQs and VoIP V2 messaging. The protocol converter may alternatively (or also) provide conversion between GMS MAP and VoIP V2 messaging. Interaction of VSPs with a Mobile Positioning Center (MPC) or a Gateway Mobile Location Center (GMLC) is permitted, as is interaction of wireless carriers with a Voice Positioning Center (VPC). In this way existing GMLCs or MPCs may be used to service VoIP 9-1-1 calls. Moreover, operators of Voice Positioning Centers (VPCs) who implement wireless offerings can re-use their existing VPCs to service wireless 9-1-1 calls.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2015Publication date: January 7, 2016Inventors: Todd Poremba, Gordon J. Hines, Victor Burton

Publication number: 20120149325Abstract: A method and apparatus for steering location requests to a serving one of a plurality of possible location positioning devices. A location request may be steered base on an emergency status of the location request, whether or not the subscriber device has a valid data plan established, based on the device type of the wireless device, or based on the type of application running on the wireless device. A location request may also be steered to a fallback location device if a steering to a primary selected location device fails and sufficient time remains to locate via the fallback location device.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2011Publication date: June 14, 2012Inventors: Mark Titus, Gordon J. Hines, Paul Thompson, Joseph P. Hannan

Patent number: 8068587Abstract: The present invention is used in an emergency network to identify and provide the correct public safety access point (PSAP) to service an emergency call originating from a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) subscriber. Data stores in an emergency services network associate PSAPs to an input ZIP code obtained from a street address returned from an MSAG relating to a VoIP call, and PSAPs to an input ESN. An emergency caller's civic street address is matched against a nationwide MSAG data store to result in a MSAG ESN. From the street address, the emergency caller's ZIP code is matched to a PSAP in an appropriate ZIP/PSAP data store. A matching PSAP from both the ZIP/PSAP and PSAP/ESN data stores determines with great reliability the identity of the proper PSAP for that emergency caller.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2009Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: TeleCommunication Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gerhard Geldenbott, Gordon J.
