  • Publication number: 20160164943
Abstract: A server device for transmitting media data includes a first unit and a second unit. The first unit comprises one or more processing units configured to send descriptive information for media data to the second unit of the server device, wherein the descriptive information indicates a segment of the media data or a byte range of the segment and an earliest time that the segment or the byte range can be delivered or a latest time that the segment or the byte range of the segment can be delivered, and send the media data to the second unit. The second unit thereby delivers the segment or the byte range of the segment according to the descriptive information (e.g., after the earliest time and/or before the latest time).

  • Patent number: 9363788
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which at least one bit rate for allocating network resources from a broadcast-multicast service center (BM-SC) is received. The network resources are then allocated based on the at least one bit rate. Moreover, all evolved Node Bs (eNBs) in a broadcast/multicast area are informed of the network resource allocation. Additionally, the network resources are allocated for a session based on a first bit rate, wherein the first bit rate is greater than a guaranteed bit rate (GBR), and the network resource allocation is adjusted to a second bit rate based on the occurrence of an event, wherein the second bit rate is equal to GBR.

  • Patent number: 9354297
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining position location information in a wireless network. In one embodiment, timing offset information is communicated between multiple transmitters and one or more receivers. Such information enables accurate position or location determinations to be made that account for timing differences throughout the network. In another embodiment, transmitter phase adjustments are made that advance or delay transmissions from the transmitters to account for potential timing differences at receivers. In yet another embodiment, combinations of timing offset communications and/or transmitter phase adjustments can be employed in the wireless network to facilitate position location determinations.

  • Patent number: 9351149
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices of the various embodiments enable evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (“eMBMS”) network sharing, content sharing, and roaming. The various embodiments may enable Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (“MBMS”) service continuity across different public land mobile networks (“PLMNs”) by associating the same MBMS services providing identical content in different PLMNs with each other. In an embodiment, service discovery may be provisioned to a receiver device when or after the receiver device is attached to a PLMN. In an embodiment, content sharing across different PLMNs may be supported by a user service description indicating the different temporary mobile group identifiers (“TMGIs”) of the same service across different PLMNs. In another embodiment, content sharing across different PLMNs may be supported by a user service description indicating the same TMGI for the same service across different PLMNs. In an embodiment, MBMS keys may be shared across PLMNs.

  • Patent number: 9331800
Abstract: Methods and systems simplify discovery and handoff for multi-frequency broadcast receiver devices, such as mobile TV devices, by providing a virtual home channel that is not dependent on a single frequency network upper layer. The methods and systems may be used in conjunction with a single frequency network upper layer to support areas without upper layer available, or to off load some portion of the common data bandwidth in the single frequency network. For example, the single frequency network may only carry frequency data for the multiple frequency network or only the frequency data for networks with comprehensive market metadata.

  • Patent number: 9325552
Abstract: Extended duration cyclic prefixes with lower overhead are disclosed in which an integer multiple sequence of carriers above the nominal 300 carrier-per-25 resource blocks (RBs) definition are selected to reduce the cyclic prefix overhead below the normative 20%. Sets of durations are then provided associated with each such integer multiple sequence of carriers that allow for the combined duration of the symbol duration and extended duration cyclic prefix to result in an integer number of carriers for each RB.
