  • Publication number: 20160165655
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to audibly provide messages in a mobile device at described. An example method includes detecting a radio link failure condition, in response to detecting the radio link failure condition, sending a cell update message to a medium access control of the user equipment, detecting that a timer associated with a radio access bearer has expired before receiving confirmation from the medium access control of transmission of the cell update message to a network, and in response to detecting that the timer associated with the radio access bearer has expired and sending the cell update message to the medium access control, maintaining the radio access bearer associated with the timer.

  • Patent number: 9258839
Abstract: In order to re-establish a suspended RRC connection, the mobile device (101) in one example sends a connection re-establishment request message to the RAN (102) to have the suspended RRC connection re-established. The RAN node may need to attempt to retrieve the RRC connection data (either from memory or if from another network element if stored elsewhere/if the RRC connection was suspended by another RAN node) and verifies whether the RRC connection is valid. When verified, the mobile device (101) receives, in response to the message, a connection re-establishment command message from the RAN (102). In response to the message, the mobile device (101) re-establishes the RRC connection with the RAN (102), using the stored RRC connection information, and sends a connection re-establishment complete message to the RAN (102). The mobile device (101) and RAN (102) may then resume user plane data communication with each other.

  • Patent number: 8942151
Abstract: In some implementations, a method for managing a receiver for user equipment in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system includes receiving, when in a DRX state or sub-state, a message within a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) resource region of a first sub-frame. The message is associated with a PDSCH transmission in a second sub-frame different from the first sub-frame. When not in the DRX state or sub-state, a message is received within a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) resource region of a first sub-frame. The message associated with a PDSCH transmission in the first sub-frame.

  • Patent number: 8937876
Abstract: A wireless network (e.g., an LTE network) may be configured to monitor a communications interface to set an inactivity timer that, in turn, sets the operating mode of a communications interface. The operating mode may include a time-domain reception pattern of the wireless device. A wireless device may monitor a communications interface that includes at least a first logical channel and a second logical channel. Based on monitoring the communications interface, a first activity state for the first logical channel may be determined and a second activity state (e.g., an activity status) for the second logical channel may be determined. An inactivity timer used by the communications interface may be set to a first value or a second value based on the first and second activity states. The battery life of a wireless device may be preserved by setting an inactivity timer responsive to how the wireless device is used.

  • Patent number: 8923178
Abstract: In some implementations, a method for managing a receiver for user equipment in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system includes receiving, within a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) resource region of a first sub-frame, a message addressed to an Identifier (ID) associated with a group of UEs. The message contains wake-up indicators for more than one of the UEs within the group of UEs. Based on the message, at least a portion of a second sub-frame is received. The second sub-frame occurs at a different time than the first sub-frame.
