  • Patent number: 6244153
Abstract: An improved appliance for slicing food articles, particularly baked goods and bagels in a uniform, quick and safe manner. The appliance includes a food receptacle which is slidably inserted into one end of a main housing and into which a food item such as a bagel is placed. A motorized cutting carriage is pivotally mounted to the main housing and extends a serrated dual-bladed slicing assembly over the food item. When power is applied, the blades of the slicing assembly begin reciprocating, and the entire cutting carriage is pivoted with respect to the main housing in order to move the reciprocating blades of the slicing assembly through the food item. Once the food item is cut, the cutting carriage is returned to its home position, the food receptacle is slidably withdrawn, and the sliced food item is removed and consumed. The appliance requires a minimum of space and facilitates the slicing operation without damage to the bagel.

  • Patent number: 5694193
Abstract: An optical device comprising a spectacle frame having a pair of optical lenses. The optical device further includes a lens assembly pivotally attached to the spectacle frame which is pivotable between an operative position and a non-operative position. The optical device also includes an detent mechanism for repeatedly positioning the lens assembly into the operative position from the non-operative position. The lens assembly includes a support bracket for holding a pair of telescopes. The support bracket is contoured to the shape of the spectacle frame so that the bracket is substantially out of a user's forward line of sight when the lens assembly is in the operative position.

  • Patent number: 5664947
Abstract: A method and apparatus for marking a surface with colored bubbles is disclosed. According to the method, bubbles carrying one or more colorants are generated and are applied to a surface to create designs. The disclosed apparatus for marking a surface in this manner can be optionally equipped with a shield defining a volume to maintain the colorant carrying bubbles within a confined area. The apparatus can be further provided with a template having one or more apertures to provide access to predetermined areas of the surface to be marked such that the colored bubbles create predetermined shapes when they burst or are applied.

  • Patent number: 4918879
Abstract: A modular merchandising wall panel construction including at least two vertically oriented structural members in edge-to-edge engagement, and means affixing the structural members together and permitting ready disassembly thereof, comprising a vertically oriented standard affixed to the edge of one structural member, the standard being in the form of a channel having flanges extending therefrom, a wall of the channel having slots provided therein, and a plurality of rotary bolt locks mounted in the edge of the other structural member, the rotary bolt lock having an arcuate bolt engaging the slots of the vertical standard, thereby locking the structural members together, and permitting easy disassembly thereof. In one embodiment of the invention some of the structural members comprise pilasters also having rotary bolt locks or vertical standards for assembly with the other structural members.

  • Patent number: 4306679
Abstract: A dispenser for volatilizable materials, such as those used to freshen or deodorize air, comprising a hollow body, rotatably attached to a closure member, and having a support for the volatilizable material contained within the hollow body; said hollow body including a resiliently compressible portion, and a substantially vertical sidewall portion extending from the compressible portion, and an aperture formed in the sidewall portion; and said closure member including an interior portion and a substantially vertical sidewall having an aperture formed therein. When the closure member and the hollow body are attached to each other the sidewall of the closure member overlaps the sidewall portion of the hollow body thereby allowing their respective apertures to be brought in and out of registry to permit air to enter the dispenser and evaporate a portion of the volatilizable material.
