Patents by Inventor Gordon Sisler

Gordon Sisler has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20070021522
Abstract: Xerographic prints with a toner-based image and an overprint, said overprint based on radiation curable compositions containing a radiation curable oligomer/monomer, at least one photoinitiator and at least one surfactant, are disclosed. The overprints are particularly well-suited for wetting over substrates containing residual fuser oil and reducing or preventing document offset and for protecting xerographic images on substrates subjected to abrasives, heat, and/or sunlight since the compositions protect such images from cracking, fading, and smearing.

  • Patent number: 7166406
Abstract: Overprint compositions for toner-based prints containing at least one radiation oligomer/monomer, at least one photoinitiator, and at least one surfactant are disclosed. The overprint compositions provide a number of advantages to toner-based prints, such as, for example, those subjected to abrasives, heat, and/or sunlight since the compositions protect such images from cracking, fading, and smearing. In addition, the overprint compositions provide resistance to thermal cracking, which is assessed by image analysis of the thermal crack area after exposure of the print to thermal shock.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 2004
Date of Patent: January 23, 2007
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: T. Brian McAneney, Kurt I. Halfyard, Gordon Sisler
  • Patent number: 7128978
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a gloss coated paper having specific properties for enhanced toner adhesion. The critical specific properties of the paper include the combination of a thermal diffusivity of less than approximately 8.5 mm2/s, a polar liquid contact angle slope of less than approximately ?12.0 and a non-polar liquid contact angle slope of less than approximately ?5.5. A method of printing gloss coated paper in an electrophotographic apparatus includes forming an image with an electrophotographic toner in the electrophotographic apparatus and transferring the image to the gloss coated paper.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 22, 2004
Date of Patent: October 31, 2006
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Gordon Sisler, Guiqin Song, Jingsong Tang, T. Brian McAneney
  • Publication number: 20060134380
Abstract: An enhanced or optimized cast-coated paper for enhancing or improving toner adhesion, and a method for forming an image on the enhanced or optimized cast-coated paper, includes a paper sheet with a coating solution on at least one surface of the paper sheet, the cast-coated paper having at least: a thermal diffusivity of less than approximately 9.0 mm2/s and total surface free energy component of less than 38 erg/cm2 Printing the cast-coated paper in an electrophotographic apparatus includes forming an image with an eletrophotographic toner in the eletrophotographic apparatus and transferring the image to the cast-coated paper having the thermal diffusivity of less than approximately 9.0 mm2/s and the total surface free energy component of less than 38 erg/cm2. The cast-coated paper may be used in apparatuses utilizing an electrophotographic process, such as a copying machine, a printer, a facsmile machine, a color-copying machine, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20050249895
Abstract: Ink jettable, radiation curable overprint compositions containing at least one radiation curable oligomer/monomer, at least one photoinitiator, and at least one surfactant are disclosed. The overprint compositions are particularly well-suited for protecting ink-based and toner-based images on substrates subjected to abrasives, heat, and/or sunlight since the compositions protect such images from smearing, cracking, and fading.
